Jesmyn Ward: This stands out because of her powerful storytelling that captures the complexities of life in the American South. Her unique voice and rich character development in works like “Sing, Unburied, Sing” leave a lasting impression.

Tommy Orange: We love this because he brings a fresh perspective on urban Native American life in “There There.” His multi-faceted characters and interwoven narratives highlight the struggles and resilience of a community often overlooked.

Yaa Gyasi: This deserves a mention because her debut novel, “Homegoing,” spans generations and explores the impact of slavery on family and identity. Her ability to weave historical context with personal stories is truly remarkable.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie: You’ll appreciate this because her novels, like “Americanah,” tackle complex themes of race, identity, and love. Adichie’s sharp insights and engaging prose make her a must-read for anyone interested in contemporary issues.

Ruth Ozeki: This really shines because of her unique blend of storytelling and philosophy. In “A Tale for the Time Being,” she crafts a narrative that bridges time and space, prompting readers to reflect on life’s interconnectedness.
