    the organization.

Before joining Gobel Consulting, Randall was the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and MedCenter Senior

including the introduction of a major gift solicitations program through physician engagement, a concierge program, and a planned giving effort which led to a 600 percent increase during his tenure. Randall and his team supported the $370 million 18-month fundraising effort for the Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center.

Prior to working with the MedCenter, Randall spent 15 years in various fundraising positions, all in the

I do it alone…by design.  I want to keep it to 20 minutes or less.   And at the same time, make sure that every episode has a practical element to it….to help leaders and practitioners get something tactical to use immediately to make themselves or their nonprofit better immediately.

    famisafe 300 250

Do you edit Around With Randall or have someone who does it for you?

I do all it….I record it (audio/video), edit it, etc.

Do you script Around With Randall, or just chat as you go?

They are never scripted.  I may have a notecard with a note or two, but the goal is authenticity.  That means a few mistakes as well.  I don’t edit out anything.  This me being me, trying to teach.

How has Around With Randall changed or developed since you began?

It has not changed much…I did add series of special (shorter) podcasts on great philanthropist, in history/worldwide as a way to learn from other’s generosity

What are you biggest challenges with Around With Randall?

    I can’t really think of one….

What are your favorite podcasts to listen to?

Clark Howard, Tony Kornheiser Show, Local Radio segments.

How and where do you promote your podcast?

Emails to the industry, word of mouth.

Do you earn money from Around With Randall, or is it a hobby?

It is part of my business efforts, but I do not monetize it at all.  Don’t want to.  This is my contribution to help others…my classroom.

What’s something you never expected about podcasting? What have you learned that surprised you?

How quickly time can go….trying to keep the podcast to 20 minutes, I have to be careful not to just “drone on.”  It always have to be worth the listeners time.

What is the first piece of advice you would give to anyone inspired to start podcasting?

Do it because you love it, not because you have to…..there are so many things that are part of your business/personal life.  This takes some time, not a lot, but some.  You have to love to do it prioritize it over time.

And, finally, are your proud of what you’re accomplishing with your podcast? Is it worth the effort?

It has been totally worth it.  I don’t even know how many people listen/subscribe.  But there are nearly 100 episodes over the last 18 months that have been produced.  Because they are “evergreen” (not dated by subject), they can be listen to/used for years to come.  And the few people that I have asked, they say they like them and learn from them…that makes it worth it.

Lithuanian Cities Become Open Gallery with Creatives For Ukraine

On The Table Read ebook Magazine UK, more than 300 billboards scattered across 6 Lithuanian cities express solidarity with Ukraine by exhibiting digital illustrations from an open art platform called Creatives for Ukraine.

    Creatives For Ukraine

Creatives For Ukraine on The Table Read
    Creatives For Ukraine

An open platform Creatives for Ukraine was launched just a month ago, with a call for designers and other creatives to submit their artworks in order to illustrate the war in Ukraine  through artists’ eyes.

During the first month, over one thousand digital artworks from all over the world have been submitted with a bunch of them gaining a physical form by being displayed outdoors in a form of billboards  across six  largest Lithuanian cities.

When the idea to create a “home” for all of the artworks supporting Ukraine came to our minds we were very open to the outcomes it can create. Today we can see that these are much more than merely “pictures” and the platform is much more than the “gallery” — the artworks are used as tools to raise money & awareness, to illustrate horrendous war crimes, to show support and bring hope. From tiny magnets or stickers that were sold to raise money, to the huge billboards in the streets — every bit counts,” says Ignas Kozlovas, co-author of the initiative, creative director at  FOLK agency.

    Digital Artworks

One of the co-authors of the platform, the co-founder of Blue Oceans PR agency Kristina Skindelytė-Gladkovienė, says the response to this initiative had been very positive from the very start. “Over 400 hundred digital artworks were submitted in the very first days of launching the platform, and the intensity of artists submitting their works remains very high. We’ve also got a very positive response from the media and influencers all over the world shining light on the impactful visuals,” says Ms. Skindelytė-Gladkovienė. Statistics show that at the moment the platform is most popular among artists from US, UK, Germany, and Lithuania itself.

Ms. Skindelytė-Gladkovienė also stresses the importance of collaboration with those who share the same values, such as one of the leading outdoor advertising companies in Lithuania, JCDecaux Lietuva“, which dedicated their street-level displays and billboards to showcase the visuals in large format across several Lithuanian cities. „JCDecaux Lietuva“ CEO Žaneta Fomova says the company is contributing to various initiatives to help Ukraine.

“The minute we heard about “Creatives for Ukraine,” we decided to offer our support, as outdoor advertising is a powerful medium with high audience reach. Outdoor advertising affects us on a daily basis, it cannot be turned off, so it serves as a reminder to everyone every day what is happening and why we need to focus and help the people of Ukraine,” said Ms. Fomova.

    Refugees In Lithuania

JCDecaux Lietuva“ has already received feedback not only from the locals but also from the Ukrainian refugees in Lithuania. “Ukrainians who run from the war and arrive in Lithuania, say that such support is inspiring — and when they see the colors of Ukraine on the streets every day, they feel they’re welcome here,” Ms. Fomova stated.

“Creatives for Ukraine” platform has also inspired other creative initiatives. For example, Vaiva Rykštaitė, a Lithuanian writer living in Hawaii, used the visuals from the platform to print stickers and sell them in local Hawaiian boutiques and cafès, donating the collected amount to support Ukraine. She says “it was too hard for her to just observe the situation and do nothing,” and hopes others will take inspiration from this example.

    War In Ukraine

As the war in Ukraine continues, so does the call for the artists to continue to do their best — create — and submit their works for the platform. Illustrations submitted are open for individual users and media outlets from all around the world to use for free, when they need to illustrate the war in Ukraine.

The platform does not have any commercial use but asks to credit creatives if their work is shared on another platform or outlet. The platform is initiated by volunteer creatives from Lithuania: including FOLK design agency, communications agency Blue Oceans PR, and VSBL web studio.

  • Singer, Songwriter, and Producer Allie Alvarado Relinquishes Happy Ending With New EP

Singer, Songwriter, and Producer Allie Alvarado Relinquishes Happy Ending With New EP

On The Table Read, the “Best Entertainment Celebrity Magazine in the UK“, Honduran-American Artist Allie Alvarado opens up about loss, overcoming obstacles, and being a woman of colour in music.

    Strong

Allie Alvarado is releasing her next EP “Strong”. The four-track EP dives into the concepts of love, loss, and navigating the world when your idea of a happy ending doesn’t work out. Written by the Honduran-American singer and electronic music producer in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, “Strong” serves as a companion for everyone going through difficult times.

Titled after the EP’s single, “Strong” began while Alvarado was touring Europe as a keyboardist and backup singer for artist Beth Ditto. Inspired by the sounds of the Berlin underground, her ideas progressed when Alvarado was confined to her apartment during the Coronavirus lockdown.

    Allie Alvarado The Table Red
    Allie Alvarado, Strong EP

The EP soon became a space for Alvarado to process the trauma she was experiencing as a result of the pandemic and devastating losses in her personal life, leading her to face the reality of an unhappy ending.

More Than Just You. A creative experience all on one platform.

    Allie Alvarado

“Originally, I was going to call this EP ‘Feel the Earthquake’ which is one of the tracks, because that’s what I felt like I was doing while writing these songs,” said Alvarado. “But like every journey, you hope to find meaning and you hope to survive and sometimes you have to keep going even if there’s no happy ending in sight. So many of us have lost so many things in the last few years, and it’s going to take time to heal.”

The flowing melodies and emotional vocals present in “Strong” showcase Alvarado’s abilities as a singer and songwriter, in addition to highlighting her struggles in the music industry. Being a female-identifying and first-generation immigrant producer who is also a person of color can make it challenging to become known in an industry that isn’t always inclusive, and this is something Alvarado has dealt with throughout her career.

The EP serves as a beacon of hope for those like Alvarado, who are struggling in the midst of opposition. The detailed elements and dynamics in “Strong” demonstrate Alvarado’s skills, asserting herself in a predominantly male sector of music.

    Representation In The Music Industry

“Participating in the music industry as a producer who is a first-generation immigrant and a woman of color, it feels like my very existence is an act of resistance,” said Alvarado. “Just participating is radical because there is a lack of representation out there. It’s easy to feel like an imposter sometimes, but I’ve learned not to compare myself to the status quo and just do what I do because I love doing it.”

The gripping melodies and meditative tempos demonstrate Alvarado’s talent as a singer, writer, and producer making her presence in the music space known.

  • Broken Keys – Le Dernier Piano, Original Motion Picture Soundtrack by Gabriel Yared

Broken Keys – Le Dernier Piano, Original Motion Picture Soundtrack by Gabriel Yared

On The Table Read, the “Best Entertainment Celebrity Magazine in the UK“, director of Broken Keys, Jimmy Keyrouz, describes the work of film composer, Gabriel Yared.

    Broken Keys

Karim, a pianist dreaming of a career in Europe, lives in a war-torn Middle-Eastern town where modern ways of living have been banned by an extremist group.

He is forced to sell his piano to gather money and leave. But things entangle when his piano is shot. Karim then embarks on a dangerous quest to repair his broken keys…

    Director, Jimmy Keyrouz

Music was always bound to be a key element in Broken Keys and I could not have hoped for a better composer than Gabriel Yared.

Not only does Gabriel’s talent, achievements, awards, and filmography speak for themselves, but Gabriel is, simply put, a fantastic collaborator. Moreover, his vast knowledge of Middle Eastern music, in particular, made him the ideal composer for this project. The film is about a musician struggling to rebuild his piano after it is destroyed by Islamic State fighters, in a war-ravaged Middle Eastern neighborhood where music has been banned.

In his crazy attempt to rebuild his piano, and against all odds, Karim, the protagonist of the story, is also trying to rebuild himself and show his community that there are still beautiful things worth fighting for, like music. The story aims to show how music can transform a place, take people’s minds away from the blasts and bombs, and give much-needed hope in a place where there is almost none.

Gabriel understood these ideas right from the start and his score wonderfully translates these feelings of pain, oppression, hope, sadness, and resilience through the score. “Music is what feeling sounds like” and Gabriel’s music accomplishes just that.

The soundtrack translates what Karim goes through while showing another side of him, one that is intimate, personal. Furthermore, it adds layers of emotions to the images by going inside the characters and conveying feelings that only music can.

Few composers are able to accomplish what Gabriel Yared did in Broken Keys and I’ve been blessed to have had the opportunity to work with him on the film.

Broken Keys is a film about a pianist dreaming of a career in times of war. It is a film equally about the protagonist’s external and internal pursuit of freedom and peace. The cast and crew took a great risk when filming on the border between Syria and Iraq, as these areas are heavily affected by the ongoing war.I had a great and fruitful collaboration with the director, Jimmy Keyrouz.

Firstly, Jimmy sent me his short film to watch, which was based on the same story as Broken Keys. I loved it, and decided to go ahead with the project. Jimmy came to meet me in Paris and we had a long conversation regarding all the classical piano music that was to be used in the film.

I then began working on my main themes while he was shooting. He would send me a few scenes for me to watch, and so it went back and forth. We met again in Paris and spent a few days going through the music I composed, reflecting and figuring things out together.

Jimmy is very musical and understands the abilities and qualities of music that lift the images and engage the audiences. To me, this is the ideal collaboration between a director and a composer. Broken Keys is a remarkable film that speaks to my heart, as it is all about the power of music while a nation is at war.

Author Interview – Hugh Ashton – On The Other Side Of The Sky

On The Table Read, “The Best Book Reader Magazine in the UK“, Hugh Ashton talks about historical fiction novel, On The Other Side Of The Sky, about members of the West Midlands Lunar Society.

JJ Barnes editor of The Table Read online creativity, arts and entertainment magazine

    Written by JJ Barnes

    www.jjbarnes.co.uk

I interviewed author Hugh Ashton about his life and career, what inspires his writing, and the work that went into his new book, On The Other Side Of The Sky.

Tell me a bit about who you are.

I was born in the late 1950s, moved around the country a bit, and then ended up in Cambridge after leaving with a mediocre degree in philosophy. I played bass in bands, ran a record label, got played on John Peel, and in “real life” worked in NHS admin and then in high-tech start-ups. I moved to Japan in 1988 on a 2-year contract as a technical writer (audio and musical instruments), and returned 28 years later with my wife, Yoshiko.

In those 28 years, I’d continued to write user manuals, advertorials for an international business magazine, and interviews/articles for airline in-flight magazines and English-language journals in Japan as well as several novels and a raft of well-received Sherlock Holmes pastiches.

Hugh Ashton, On The Other Side Of The Sky on The Table Read
    Hugh Ashton

Since returning to England I’ve been concentrating more on my fiction, and doing some work for a computer forensics and security consultancy. I’m also a City (parish) Councillor in Lichfield.

Reading Never Goes Out of Style

When did you first WANT to write a book?

Probably in my mid-teens. I actually wrote one. It wasn’t bad, but it certainly wasn’t publishable (not that I ever tried).

When did you take a step to start writing?

I’d always written fiction for fun since then, having had an amazingly supportive teacher at school who encouraged my writing, but nothing published. Typically short stories, but I did manage a complete cosy mystery with a technical element (never published), as well as a half-finished thriller set in Japan, which went through about four iterations before it was finally unleashed on the world.

How long did it take you to complete your first book from the first idea to release?

Over a year – perhaps eighteen months. My first book to be published was Beneath Gray Skies (2009), which was written in the gaps between freelance assignments . It’s an alternative history set in the 1920s in which the American Civil War was never fought, and the independent Confederacy forms an alliance with a newly National Socialist Germany. A British agent (described in one review as a “1920s James Bond”) is out to stop this unholy alliance.

I had an agent/editor trying to sell this commercially, but in the end I self-published it. It worked out OK in the end. It’s still a good story, being as objective about it as I can be.

How long did it take you to complete your latest book from the first idea to release?

Just over a year – but I did manage to publish four novellas (Mapp & Lucia pastiches) within that time as well.

What made you want to write On The Other Side Of The Sky?

An interest in the life and times of these people. It was a time when superstition and what I call “protoscience” was being replaced by what we now call science. There was a belief in the supernatural, but also in laws of nature.

One of my principal characters, Doctor Erasmus Darwin (grandfather of Charles) is a local hero – his house is ten minutes’ walk away from where I live in Lichfield – and he was an amazing polymath. He deserves to be a hero in a book. So I wrote it.

What were your biggest challenges with writing On The Other Side Of The Sky?

Making sure that the details were correct as far as possible. It took a fair bit of research into subjects I had never previously encountered, and reading on some fairly esoteric subjects. I had help from a very unexpected quarter when it came to looking a Kabbala and Jewish traditions, both of which play a role in the book.

Another challenge was getting into the skin of the protagonist (see below). I had a lot of help from my female editor in checking that I had a truly female voice there.

Who or what inspired you when creating your Protagonist?

Jane Machin could have been John Machin, I suppose, but I wanted a female protagonist – I felt she would be stronger as a woman. And it was fun to bring her up in age from a lisping infant to a strong mature young woman. Inspiration? Women I have known and loved. But even so, I am not female and I needed some guidance to achieve a credible and realistic picture.

Who or what inspired you when creating your Antagonist?

On The Other Side Of The Sky by Hugh Ashton on The Table Read
On The Other Side Of The Sky

Nightmares. The fear of the shadowy Other. The idea of what happens on the other side of the mirror has been a minor obsession of mine for some time (and not only mine), so I took that one stage further to what lives on the other side of the sky. He had to be glamorous in a dark scary way, and amoral, if not immoral. But he is really a nightmare from our collective unconscious (there’s quite a bit of Jung in various of my writings).

What is the inciting incident of On The Other Side Of The Sky?

I take it that you mean the incident that kicks the plot into high gear? Probably the scene where I describe the incident illustrated by Joseph Wright of Derby (a minor character in the book) in his An Experiment on a Bird in the Air Pump. Jane Machin unconsciously causes chaos at this “philosophical demonstration”. Here’s the painting (it even has its own Wikipedia entry because it’s such an important piece of work):

What is the main conflict of On The Other Side Of The Sky?

The conflict (internal and external) between the human and non-human aspects of the protagonist.

Did you plot On The Other Side Of The Sky in advance, or fly by the seat of your pants and write freely?

I had a vague idea of what was going to happen, but not the details. Some of the plot suggested itself to me as a result of my reading on the subjects. But on the whole, I watched (in my head) my characters acting and conversing, and wrote down what I saw and heard.

Did you get support with editing, and how much editing did On The Other Side Of The Sky need?

I got a great deal of help from my friend and fellow-author Vicky Yardley. It’s a mutual support society. I help her with some of her plot and character problems, and she helps me with mine.

I tend to write work which is pretty much printable first time round, but in 360 pages, you’re going to make mistakes – not just typos, but in plotting and continuity. She was an enormous help in her editing and in her suggestions. The book is much better for her part in it.

What is the first piece of writing advice you would give to anyone inspired to write a story?

Write it. Don’t think about it. Just do it.

Can you give me a hint about any further books you’re planning to write?

I’m researching and looking at a sequel to this. It’s going to be interesting to see if I can do it, though. I also have one or two other Mapp and Lucia pastiches on the go (I’ve been asked once again to be a guest speaker at the Annual Gathering of the Tilling Society) and I make regular contributions to Sherlock Holmes anthologies put out by MX Publishing.

And, finally, are your proud of your accomplishment? Was it worth the effort?

Yes, and yes. It’s the best book I’ve written to date, in terms of characterisation, scope and setting, and probably in plotting. I’m very pleased with it. Even if it sells very few copies, it’s there, it’s on paper, and I can look at it and feel I did something worthwhile.

A Potpourri of Thoughts is a collection of twenty poems written over a period of time. Although the poems do not all belong to a single theme, they are united by an emotion central to the existence of mankind i.e. the ability to feel and experience life’s ups and downs with utmost presence.

    About Anusha Akella

Anusha Akella is a doctor, currently training in psychiatry in the NHS.

She was born and raised in South India and moved to the UK soon after medical school and has been working in the NHS since 2017.  Although having a penchant for writing since childhood, it is mostly in the last five years that she has started to explore her passion.

Anusha Akella says: “Readers might realise that this collection of poems is indeed a mixed bag of some dark, some bittersweet and some purely nostalgic themes, written at different points and reflecting a variety of events and encounters.”

In addition to work and writing, Anusha loves reading classics and painting.  She currently lives in Chester with her husband.

    About Twenty One Pilots

Twenty One Pilots – GRAMMY® Award-winning Twenty One Pilots quietly emerged as one of the most successful bands of the 21st century and redefined the sound of a generation. After billions of streams and dozens of multi-Platinum certifications around the world, the history-making Columbus, OH duo—Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun—ascended to a creative and critical high watermark on their new full-length album, Scaled And Icy.

The album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top “Rock Albums” and “Alternative Albums” charts, while landing at No. 3 on the “Billboard 200,” marking the biggest opening week for a rock album in 2021. Among a collection of anthems, Scaled And Icy spawned “Shy Away,” which spent eight consecutive weeks at #1 at Alternative Radio, as well as “Saturday” and “The Outside,” both of which also climbed to #1 at Alternative Radio. Scaled And Icy follows Twenty One Pilots’ 2018 Platinum certified album TRENCH, which features the platinum singles: “Chlorine,” “My Blood,” and the GRAMMY® Award-nominated “Jumpsuit.”

The album graced spots on “Best of” year-end lists by Billboard, KERRANG!, Alternative Press, and Rock Sound—who placed it at #1. Formed in 2009, the guys grinded towards this moment following the mainstream breakout of 2015’s BLURRYFACE. Certified quadruple-platinum in the U.S., it was declared the first album ever to have every one of its songs certified Gold or Platinum by the RIAA, and garnered a GRAMMY® Award for the Diamond certified “Stressed Out.”

In 2019 Twenty One Pilots announced that their 2013 LP Vessel achieved the same Gold & Platinum milestone with every individual track from the album receiving Gold, Platinum or Multi-Platinum certification from the RIAA, making the duo the first artist / group with two albums to reach this landmark achievement.

I interviewed author Carina Ghionzoli about her life, what inspired her to start writing, and the creative process that went into her new book, The Clank Of Chains: From Trapped To Freedom.

Tell me a bit about who you are.

Who am I? I can write the usual stuff: mother, healer, counselor, Pollyanna, lover of life, and there is always more.

Carina Ghionzoli, author of The Clank Of Chains, on The Table Read
    Carina Ghionzoli

I was born and lived in South Africa all my life. Until 2016 when I came to the USA on a promise. The promise turned out to be a lie. However, the lie was a blessing, too.

Writers Work - Get Paid to Write

When did you first WANT to write a book?

Since I was a little girl. It’s always been my dream to write books.

When did you take a step to start writing?

I wrote a book about 10 years ago which is still unpublished. Three years ago I began my published book journey after my release from detention.

How long did it take you to complete your first book from the first idea to release?

    2 ½ years

What made you want to write The Clank Of Chains?

I wrote the book for my healing and to inspire others in their healing

What were your biggest challenges with writing The Clank Of Chains?

My biggest challenge was my fear of judgment and visibility. Self-doubt played a role too.

The Clank Of Chains by Carina Ghionzoli on The Table Read

What was your research process for The Clank Of Chains?

My research process was my 8.5 month adventure in immigration detention.

    The #1 Writing Tool

How did you plan the structure of The Clank Of Chains?

I don’t know. The book somehow wrote itself.

Did you get support with editing, and how much editing did The Clank Of Chains need?

I had a few beta readers and then edited myself.

What is the first piece of writing advice you would give to anyone inspired to write a book?

Close your eyes and jump right in. Use your self doubt to propel you forward rather than keep you stuck.

Can you give me a hint about any further books you’re planning to write?

    Yes, a Breakfear meditation journal,

A novel: when dolphins cry A story of obsession and addiction

    A Novel: behind the library

And, finally, are your proud of your accomplishment? Was it worth the effort?

Pocket-Friendly Professional Cakes For £10 on Reshmi Bennett’s Fake Bake Series

On The Table Read, the “Best Entertainment Celebrity Magazine in the UK“, luxury baker from Anges De Sucre, Reshmi Bennett, shows how to make your own professional-looking cake for just £10 WITHOUT an oven or mixer on her Fake Bake Series. Despite the cost of living crisis, every child can have a show-stopping cake for their birthday.

    Anges De Sucre

With costs of living sky-rocketing, families are actively looking at ways to minimise their outgoings and expenses. Professional baker, Reshmi Bennett, has recognised this need and launched her clever recipe blog series – Fake Bake – where she shows her fans and followers how to make stunning cakes on a stringent budget of just £10.

    Anges De Sucre

Reshmi, founder of London’s luxury cake company Anges de Sucre, commented that: “Despite having to make compromises in these tough times, any parent would want to present a showstopping birthday cake for their loved one.

“With bespoke cakes costing upwards of £80, more and more families are having to cut back and resort to supermarket options, or home-baking. My Fake Bake series shows families how to use readily available supermarket bargains and turn them into stunning centrepieces with just a tenner.”

    Fake Bake

Reshmi’s Fake Bake series has a loyal and growing audience who tune in every week to her TikTok and Instagram accounts for her tutorials on supermarket cake ‘glow ups’.

She achieves her unbelievable results by taking advantage of supermarket deals and own-brand dupes. With the help of her young son, she shows how to transform a basic Tesco Victoria sponge into a luxurious strawberries and cream cake, and a cut-priced Aldi chocolate cake into a sumptuous, and hilariously titled Kinder Swindler cake. What is more, she does this all without using an oven or fancy equipment and limits herself to just one shop.

    Reshmi Bennett

Some of Reshmi’s ingenious hacks include making a glossy chocolate drip using cheap chocolate bars and water in lieu of cream or butter, and warming up cheaper crunchy peanut butter to sieve into a smooth sauce.

Reshmi explains: “What started as just a little fun hobby for me with my toddler has now had a ripple effect with my followers who have been creating their own versions. Cake decorating is such a fun and wholesome pass-time, it is nice to see that it can be accessible to all. And you don’t even have to be a confident baker to do it!”

  • Podetize Supports Women-Founded, Women-Led Podcasters with New Initiatives to Fuel Success

Podetize Supports Women-Founded, Women-Led Podcasters with New Initiatives to Fuel Success

On The Table Read, the “Best Entertainment Celebrity Magazine in the UK“, Tracy Hazzard founded Podetize, a woman founded, woman-led, podcast business supporting female podcasters.

Podetize, one of the world’s largest podcast production companies, announced today the launch of new initiatives in support of its long-time commitment to supporting women in the podcast industry.

    Women Are Underrepresented

Studies report that female listenership reached an all-time high in 2021 and project that overall listeners in the U.S. could increase from 75.9 million to 100 million in the U.S. by 2024 with 2,423,127 podcasts in existence, including 62 million+ episodes. Still, the fact remains that women are underrepresented as podcast hosts — only 22 percent of podcasts are hosted by women.

“Clearly, there is tremendous potential for women in the highly lucrative, high-growth podcast industry and Podetize is determined to expand their leadership role. I hope Podetize can serve as a role model for women since we’re women-founded and women-led, but it’s not all about us. We’re just one example of a profitable, scalable company that leads the fast-growing $1.6 billion podcasting industry. Podetize has 4.2M monthly listeners with 500+ subscribers and 1,000 podcasters on its platform, including just 390 female hosts. Collectively, the industry can do better and we’re here to make change happen,” said Tracy Hazzard, CEO of Podetize.

Podetize, founded by Tracy Hazzard, on The Table Read
    Podetize

Key components of the Podetize mission to boost women’s role in the industry are:

    Train And Educate Female Podcasters

Podetize now offers female podcasters the opportunity to apply for a scholarship to attend its Podcast Certified Strategist Program that teaches existing or aspiring podcast coaches, managers, or producers how to launch or reinvent their podcasts and monetize them via easy-to-use solutions for hosting, content creation, advertising, audience retention, and more.

Sessions include pricing and packaging, client service and management, lead generation, and knowledge training, including how to set up and record a great show on a powerful platform, achieve marketing goals, create binge-worthy content, incorporate easy-to-use technology, introduce great branding, and unique tips for success.

Private sessions, mentorship sessions and live group coaching are included and Podetize guarantees that if the coach brings in three or more production clients within one year the annual renewal is free.

Pave the Way for Underserved Female Voices to Shine

A free bootcamp course open to women includes mentoring, live coaching, and masterclasses every week. There are live group opportunities to ask questions to Podetize’s team. The sessions are personalized and customized, which is important to female hosts since not everyone fits a one-size-fits-all model. Women learn to build their business model, determine their ideal podcast format, and focus on their strengths.

For example, when marketing a podcast, women are encouraged to assess whether they are strongest on social media, have an amazing website, and/or can bring in powerful speakers. At the end of the day, these strengths work together to support a powerful podcast platform.

positive woman near microphone in room
Photo by George Milton on Pexels.com

By offering women live and recorded training opportunities, there’s a high probability that things will progress smoothly. There’s always a model that will work for women and their business, regardless of the stage of the business. Women who have a mission and a message to bring out to the world need a platform, but often they are an underserved community in general.

More Than Just You. A creative experience all on one platform.

Lead by Example with Females at the Helm

At Podetize, 11 of the 15 segment teams are led by a woman, including production, video and graphics, operations, marketing, and social certified coaching. Additionally, the company is majority women-owned by Tracy Hazzard and daughter Alexandra, which provides a unique opportunity to examine the role of women from a stockholder’s perspective, from a team leader’s perspective, and then how that affects the workplace.

The fact that Podetize has women in leadership positions results in a high rate of referral, not just externally from clients who refer the business to other podcasters, but also a high rate of referral for employees referring other employees, which goes a long way and supports Podetize’s reputation as a great company at which to work.

To top that all off, it has remote working, job-sharing, and flex time for everyone in the company, regardless of their job or role, which is helpful for single parents.

    Provide Tools for Success

Podetize is determined to build confidence into female voices so they can be heard and supported as they build around the model of independent podcasters and alternative systems to monetize their business. In addition to advertising there are other alternatives and strategies such as: monetizing your guests, hot seating listeners, developing our own book and product sales, affiliate or joint venture partner monetization, or community membership building.

One of the company’s female podcasters, for example, has approximately 100 listeners, and yet still makes tens of thousands of dollars off those listeners. Regardless of budget, technology skills, or knowledge of podcasting, there are many new techniques that women can adopt to make their path to success much easier and clearer.

Promote And Build Confidence in Women

Both internally and externally, Podetize has programs in place to support women and provide a growth path as they build into their roles and position. Often, there are tests along the way – for example, whether they can manage people and processes. Women who excel in these areas tend to be promoted aggressively even if their confidence level lags. Podetize wants to spread the world that women should be believed in first because of their great indicators of skill, attributes, and personalities to run top-tier podcast programs.

Tracy Hazzard, Podetize, The Table Read
    Tracy Hazzard

“Considering that women are the most valued demographic in any age group or category, buying or influencing 80%+ of consumer purchases of goods and services in the United States, it is clear that the podcast industry represents a tremendous growth opportunity for women. To date, our challenge has primarily been figuring out how to be seen, heard, and found so that we can edu-tain the broadest and most engaged audience possible – of both men and women. We want to be front and center leading the effort on behalf of all women who aspire to podcast success,” Ms. Hazzard said.

  • Kelsie Kimberlin Explains Why Musicians Cannot Be Silent About Ukraine

Kelsie Kimberlin Explains Why Musicians Cannot Be Silent About Ukraine

On The Table Read, the “Best Entertainment Celebrity Magazine in the UK“, Ukrainian-American singer Kelsie Kimberlin talks about the speech from the President of Ukraine at the Grammy Awards.

President Zelensky And The Grammy Awards

The speech of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky at the Grammy Awards has become one of the most emotional in the history of the music ceremony. But beyond emotions, what action should musicians take to stop the war and protect the lives of millions of innocent people?

Kelsie Kimberlin on The Table Read
    Kelsie Kimberlin

As Zelensky said, “The silence destroyed cities and killed people… Fill the silence with your music. Fill it today to tell our story… Please support us as much as you can. By any means, but not by silence.”

    330 250 03

    Kelsie Kimberlin

A young American singer, Kelsie Kimberlin, a few days before the beginning of the war, recorded a video with a call to pay attention to the situation that is happening in Ukraine and become a Ukrainian who stood face to face with the enemy.

I am calling on everyone to take a moment to reflect on what it is like to be Ukrainian, free from war. Close your eyes and imagine our verdant fertile lands long called the breadbasket of the world because we provide sustenance to the planet not only with food, but with goodness, beauty, and humanity. Envision hundreds of miles of glorious sunflowers moving in unison with the sun and then lowering their petals for a peaceful night. Hear the bustling of vibrant cosmopolitan cities and listen as the wind carries the sounds of horses bringing wagons of fruits and vegetables to the village markets. See the children playing and laughing outdoors without a care in the world. This is the Ukraine that awaits us as long as all civilized nations and all civilized citizens on the planet unite in solidarity with us to oppose a broader war and regain our territory. Together, we are all one, because as Ukraine stands, so stands the entire free world,” said Kelsie Kimberlin.

Kelsie is Ukrainian-American, and in her posts on social networks, she has repeatedly urged the world to support Ukraine, and every day she does more in order to save the lives of Ukrainians.

It's Not The Time by Kelsie Kimberlin on The Table Read
    It’s Not The Time

Kelsie’s mother was born in Ukraine and many relatives remain where active hostilities are now taking place.

More Than Just You. A creative experience all on one platform.

    It’s Not The Time

In her new video for the song “It’s Not The Time“, which Kelsie released in early March, she honestly admits: “When I was preparing to release my new song, I did not know that a war would happen in my beloved Ukraine, a country where I spent many summers and with my wonderful family and friends. Russia has attacked Ukraine. The world has turned upside down. Everyone’s priorities have changed. But music is always eternal, right? I know how hard it is for people who are on the front lines or in bomb shelters, and I appeal to all of you: ‘It’s not the time, to be worlds apart To be far away, to be gone again, for so many days.’ No one can be silent now. Ukrainians must understand that the civilized world is with them. Today, the hope of the whole world lies in one very strong and courageous people.

Kelsie follows the call of President Zelensky and in addition to volunteering (which she does not like to advertise), Kelsie breaks through the silence and appeals to the whole world: “Look at the true story of current destroyed but unbreakable Ukraine.”

The singer is convinced that in addition to weapons, which Ukraine undoubtedly needs to protect its people, Ukraine needs music. Music that says that Ukraine is not alone. She will be releasing more music soon to help tell the story. And it’s not the time to be apart…

    About Kelsie Kimberlin

Kelsie Kimberlin is a 22-year-old American musician and singer. Her work is not only accessible and entertaining but also steeped with important social themes and dual meanings underscoring her deep understanding of the power of creative music to evoke change.

From an early age, Kelsie immersed herself in music, singing in choirs, participating in Yoko Ono’s Peace Project, and spending much of her childhood in music studios working on an endless stream of original songs. She participates in every aspect of her art — writing, recording, performing, and filming her videos.

Kelsie has released eight videos over the past year and has built her own audience and an army of fans. Her videos have millions of views on YouTube, and her songs have been streamed millions of times and heard on hundreds of radio stations across the world with each song receiving more radio play.

    Kelsie Kimberlin’s Music

Multi-Grammy winner Michael Brauer, who has been working with Kelsie, recently said, “I really enjoy mixing Kelsie’s music! Her voice is beautiful, emotional and I believe the story she’s singing about. The musicianship and productions are amazing too. I expect her to go all the way, she’s the real deal.”

One of Kelsie’s enduring qualities is her authenticity. “I am who I am, whether on a film set or hanging out with my family. So is my music. A perfectly retouched world doesn’t really exist. Sometimes I may be more lyrical and melodic, and sometimes I may speak loudly about my feelings and experiences. But the more openly I face the day, the easier it is to decide what to do to make my tomorrow better than my today.

Kelsie travels extensively, loves all of her 15 animals, and fearlessly shares her views about social injustices. “If I see that I can influence something or someone by sharing relevant information with others, I will do it, whether in my music, online or in my daily life. The only way we can make things better is to speak up, get off the couch and do something positive.”

Author Interview – Dr Sylvia Medina – Environmental Heroes Series

On The Table Read, “The Best Book Reader Magazine in the UK“, Dr Sylvia Medina shares details of her new children’s book series, Environmental Heroes, and what inspired her.

I interviewed Dr Sylvia Medina about her life and career, what inspires her, and her new children’s book series, Environmental Heroes.

Tell me a bit about who you are.

I grew up in Flagstaff, Arizona which is just an amazingly beautiful small city in northern Arizona close to the Grand Canyon. I am of Mexican American heritage with some French, Aztec and Spanish blood. Our family was low to lower middle class when I grew up. We really did not have much, my father was a hard worker and a self-taught land surveyor.

Dr Sylvia Medina, author of Grizzly 399, on The TAble Read
    Dr Sylvia Media

As a child I was the “boy” of our family. My father took me out in the field to land survey with him from the age of 14 years old to 17. This meant getting up at 4:30 in the morning and working with him for 10 hours a day. This — I have to say — taught me a lot about work ethic. During our days together he always shared his dreams with me of having his own business. Little did I know this would influence me incredibly.

While, in Arizona, my father bought calves, chickens, turkeys, ducks and we had dogs. I grew to love animals and never wanted any of my farm pets to be eaten. Periodically I found that one of my chickens would be missing, and I would not eat that day!

My senior year in High School we moved to New Mexico, where I continued to have my own personal animal farm. At this time, I decided I wanted to become a veterinarian, so I started college with this in mind. After a time, I was unsure as to whether I should become a veterinarian, so I switched my degree to Environmental Engineering. This worked out well for I would eventually start an Engineering business which would help me make a difference in my life and in what I am trying to accomplish.

When did you first WANT to write a book?

When I graduated from college as an Environmental Engineer and moved to Southeast Idaho — close to Yellowstone and Teton National Park I realized how much I loved the wild animals that lived up in this part of the country, especially the grizzly bears and wolves. This is what made me first want to write a book. I wanted to write books to teach the children the importance of taking care of our lands and the animals that live there.

When did you take a step to start writing?

I started a company called the Green Kids Club (GKC) so I could write books through storytelling.

Through the Green Kids Club, I began to work with various environmental conservation groups such as Elephants without Borders, Blood Lions, etc. where we told a story about a situation or animal they were dealing with involving environmental issues. I will go into more detail later in the questions you are asking here.

I do have to say though, it took me a while to figure out what direction I wanted to go with my books. This finally became clear when I began working with Elephants without Borders who gave me a wonderful response to writing a story with them. Together we started writing one of our traditional Green Kids Club books – that is based on three children who are environmental or green children that have environmental adventures.

But the relationship became deeper when I was invited to visit them in their camp in the Okavango Delta in Botswana.  When I arrived there – I was shocked to see an injured baby elephant – who they later named Molelo.  Molelo was burned because his family herd had experienced a wildfire started by poachers.  His family took off and left him and he was found by people who took him to the Elephants Without Borders camp.  I was able to be participate directly with them in helping this little elephant.  And this is what gave me the inspiration for the Environmental Heroes series of books we have written.

How long did it take you to complete your first book from the first idea to release?

Probably about 8 months to a year. I had no idea what I was doing. And to be honest I think I finally have figured it out!

My approach is different though than the traditional publisher. As an environmentalist and lover of our natural world and animals, I look for non-profits or NGOs that are making a difference and have a story to tell.  I then approach them and see if we can do a story together.  Then we establish of course a relationship and a storyline we want to work on and then I start developing the storyline or book.  It is wonderful work and I love helping the various groups we have so far supported.  The groups include:  Elephants without Borders, Cougar Fund, Save Elephant Foundation, Rhino Orphanage, Saving the Survivor, Orang Utan Republik, and Blood Lions as some examples. We are working on new stories as we are moving along as well.

What made you want to write the Environmental Heroes Series?

The last children’s book I have written is “Kabelo, A Silly Little Rhino.”  This book was written in collaboration with Saving the Survivor and the Rhino Orphanage.  I wrote this book, based on a real little rhino called Kabelo who was saved by Saving the Survivor

founder, a Veterinarian, named Dr. Johan Marais who saves rhinos and other animals that have been poached and are still alive. He has made a significant difference. After he works with the animals medically – he will then transfer some of the animals to the Rhino Orphanage https://therhinoorphanage.co.za/

So, this book was written to teach children that even though bad things happen, there is hope for animals that may have been impacted by evil poachers – there are still good people in this world.  And maybe children will learn they can grow up to make a difference and be one of these good people.

What were your biggest challenges with writing the Environmental Heroes Series?

I would say what was hard – were of course time zones, and distance. Trying to work with two organizations and bring the story together.  Both Saving the Survivor and The Rhino Orphanage were wonderful to work with.

Also, on this same note – the back of our books always has a science section, describing the animals that we highlight.  In this book, we highlighted of course rhinos.  Our biggest problem when we wrote this book was getting a photo of the Javan Rhino.  This Rhino is one of the last rhinos in the world. There are only 60 of them left in the entire world. So, getting a good photo and being able to access it for our book was tough.  So why can’t we get a good photo?  Because we are losing a species of animal from this world. We must act now, or we won’t have any Javan Rhinos left.

What was your research process for the Environmental Heroes Series?

My research involved getting to know Saving the Survivor and what it takes for them to go into the field and save animals that are still alive yet poached (meaning hurt by poachers).  This process is painful to look at – and see – some of the rhinos they have saved – have had their tusks cut off as well as part of their face. Seeing these photos is very hard.  I can’t imagine seeing this in real life.

During my research, I was able to meet Dr. Marais and was so in awe of his work.  Perhaps one day I will go out with him in the fields of South Africa (or wherever he is at) and try and see his work firsthand.  But frankly, I am not sure I can do this.  I am proud of the work he has done and continues to do.  He puts his heart and soul into it.

The Rhino Orphanage – getting in touch with the founder was difficult as he is working so hard with all the rhinos that are brought to him to take care of after they have been impacted by poachers. They always have several rhinos at their facility. It is wonderful to see this part of the process as well.  This year I hope to visit their facility.

How did you plan the structure of the Environmental Heroes Series?

The structure of our books evolved simply and almost just fell into place.  After we write the story and deal with the animal or subject line, then having a science section with the animal we are highlighting and then the story of the conservation group we are working with came easily.

After I write the story – I work with our illustrator and Joy Eagle (who works with me) and we prepare a storyboard, and we decide what illustrations work the best. After this we – show the storyboard to the group we are working with and we go from there.  Our illustrator for the Environmental Hero stories is Morgan Spicer. She does a wonderful job!

Did you get support with editing, and how much editing did the Environmental Heroes Series need?

As an Engineer, my writing was okay, but I had no idea how to write a children’s book.  To be honest, I needed a lot of help. Although, at the time I didn’t think I did – lol.   One day, I decided I might want to use an Editor, so I contacted Krista Hill, my editor. She does a magnificent job.

When we first started working together, she would take my manuscripts and help make them more readable as well as do an edit.  Through her editing process, I learned just by observing and seeing what and how she works. She has taught me a lot – so nowadays, it’s more of a clean edit and of course, I do listen to her comments.  So, I have gotten to where I am pretty good at writing a story without a lot of input.  But when you get too close to a story – having a good editor is highly recommended!

What is the first piece of writing advice you would give to anyone inspired to write a book?

Know your subject – know what you want to write about.  And understand that just because you write a book, you won’t automatically get it published. I think most of us think that we can end up on the New York seller’s list – yes – it can happen (not to me yet)!.  But you have to start somewhere. So, if your heart is in it. Go for it. Get a mentor or someone who has written books and published them and start your process.

I also do not do the illustrations of our books. I was originally going to try – I started taking drawing lessons – and then I realized that by the time I got this down – I would be about 20 years older. So, now I have some wonderful illustrators – Morgan Spicer and Andreas Wessel-Therhorn.

Can you give me a hint about any further books you’re planning to write?

Grizzly 399 by Dr Sylvia Medina on The Table Read
Grizzly 399 by Dr Sylvia Medina

Well, I wrote a book called Grizzly 399 – she is a grizzly bear in Teton National Park. She was famous but became even more so – when she had 4 cubs at the age of 24 years old – which is considered to be a grandma bear.

So, the first book I wrote about her was telling her story – and of course, you don’t know what happens to a wild animal when they are first born and in the wild. So, I took some fun liberties about what could have happened to her. Then I met an amazing photographer, Thomas D. Mangelsen – who has beautiful photos of Grizzly 399 and he agreed to collaborate with me on her story.

This relationship has really made a difference with our books. So, after I wrote this first book about Grizzly 399 – I am now about to release a follow-on story about her and her 4 cubs and what it will take to ensure the cubs survive (NOTE:  After 3 years old they are sent on their own).  So this book – Grizzly 399 and Her 4 Cubs will be coming out around mid-April 2022.

One other book that will be out soon is a version of our Classic Green Kids Club books.  The book is called Gorilla’s Roar and has new art, by a past Disney illustrator – Andreas Wessel-Therhorn. The visuals of the illustrations and the storyline are wonderful.  This book is coming out around early May 2022.

And finally, we have Lili, the Brave Bee’s Flight for a New Home. We are writing this story with Elephants without Borders.  It is a fun beautiful story.

And, finally, are your proud of your accomplishment? Was it worth the effort?

I have to say that yes, I am very happy with what were doing.  I never dreamt that I would be working with such amazing environmental organizations to share their story and help make a difference.  Working with all the groups I discussed above, and just recently Blood Lions – co-authored with Ian Michler – one of the world’s top Lion specialists. Who would have ever thought I would be able to work with them (see their homepage – it is very powerful) – https://bloodlions.org/

And now working with Lek Chailert who has done such amazing work with Save Elephant Foundation.  It is just amazing to me. It inspires me to keep going and working!  I can’t wait to see what this year holds for me and the stories I write with conservation groups that make a difference in our world and its animals.
