A Dementia Caregiver Called To Action By Dr. Macie P. Smith Reveals The Realities Of Dementia Care

On The Table Read Magazine, “the best entertainment eBook magazine UK“, Dr. Macie Smith’s A Dementia Caregiver Called To Action: The Journey offers a comprehensive guide for caregivers navigating the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease, drawing on her personal experiences and expertise as a gerontologist.

A Dementia Caregiver Called To Action

Nearly 7 million Americans live with Alzheimer’s dementia, a number projected to grow. This alarming statistic has prompted gerontologist Dr. Macie Smith to address the urgent need for comprehensive support for dementia patients and their caregivers.

Drawing from her personal experience caring for her grandmother with dementia, Smith created A Dementia Caregiver Called to Action: The Journey. This concise yet comprehensive resource offers invaluable guidance throughout the caregiving journey, addressing common questions and concerns.

Smith’s book provides a step-by-step approach, beginning with early symptom recognition and navigating the diagnosis process. It delves into the complexities of dementia care, exploring various care options and offering practical advice to help caregivers make informed decisions.

Because our current healthcare system is not geriatric-centered, many medical professionals are not well informed about what supports are available to offer family caregivers. There is a growing need for dementia-competent education that is practical, applicable and relatable.

African American caregivers are the least likely to have access to information, education and resources that will help guide their dementia caregiving journey.

Although there’s not a cure for progressive types of dementia, like Alzheimer’s, there is care — your care. So, here’s to getting ahead of the journey.
