Ben Denny Mo is a British singer-songwriter whose path has taken him from the rural landscapes of Norfolk to the sun-drenched island of Gozo in Malta, where the steady pulse of the ocean and warm Mediterranean light infuse his songs.

His style fuses acoustic folk, pop, and soul, delivered with the instinct of a natural storyteller, drawing comparisons to artists like Jonah Kagen, Dave Matthews Band, and John Martyn through its blend of heartfelt vulnerability and infectious, groove-driven playing.

Dyslexia profoundly influenced his entry into music. Denied access to certain classes at school due to misunderstandings about the condition and doubts about his abilities, he discovered that strumming a guitar bypassed those barriers entirely. The EP title, The Norfkl Tapes, cleverly reclaims those early misspellings, transforming a former source of frustration into an emblem of resilience.

Beyond music, Ben works as a chef on Gozo, nourishing others while pursuing his craft. His live shows showcase a distinctive two-capo guitar technique and a raspy, soulful voice that shifts seamlessly from intimate whispers to crowd-rousing anthems. He has performed at major venues and events including Glastonbury, Cambridge Folk Festival, Secret Garden Party, and London’s Omeara. The Norfkl Tapes

The Norfkl Tapes distills Ben Denny Mo’s essence into eight tracks that pair intimate, confessional lyrics with rich, evolving soundscapes. Most of the recording took place alongside producer Jack Murphy of Youth Killed It at Crystal Studios in North Norfolk, building upon Ben’s initial acoustic sketches by adding intricate layers of guitars, drums, and keyboards.

The track Medusa emerged from collaborations with Rhys Downing—who has worked with Mark Ronson and The Last Dinner Party—at Grange Farm, That Other Studio, and Abbey Road, with final mastering handled by Christian Wright, known for projects with Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, and Blur. The release will appear on vinyl, accompanied by a bonus 13-track CD compiled from the same sessions.

At its core, the EP explores the emotional terrain of relationships: the euphoria of newfound love, the sting of separation, and the chaos of unhealthy bonds. Tracks such as In The Breakdown and You and I grapple with the difficulty of release, September evokes the sweetness of short-lived romance and cherished moments, and Lay Me Down portrays the bittersweet act of parting for mutual benefit.

Broader perspectives appear in Asylum, which reflects on the hardships of those around him, while the upbeat Change My Eyes and the mythology-rooted Medusa inject lively, whimsical flair into the lineup.
