On The Table Read Magazine, “the best arts and entertainment magazine UK“, The Trials of Divinia launches an epic YA fantasy saga where a reluctant hero battles divine trials, shifting alliances, and a dark conspiracy to defy the gods and reshape a world’s fate.
The Trials Of Divinia

In a world where divine whims dictate prosperity or ruin, Glen Harrington’s The Trials of Divinia bursts onto the YA fantasy scene as the electrifying first chapter of an eight-part saga. This action-packed adventure weaves a tale of elemental challenges, fragile alliances, and a reluctant hero daring to defy the gods themselves. With its vivid worldbuilding, relentless stakes, and a narrative that pulses with danger and heart, Harrington’s debut is poised to captivate readers who crave both adrenaline and depth.

A World Ruled by Celestial Trials
For centuries, the fate of Divinia’s seven regions has hinged on the Celestial Trials—a week-long spectacle where seven champions, chosen by seven gods, compete in seven grueling contests. Victory brings glory, honor, and prosperity to the winner’s region, while defeat condemns others to hardship. The trials are no mere game; they are a divine crucible, blending elemental gauntlets, ancient creatures, and illusions that test the champions’ strength, cunning, and resolve.
At the heart of this breathtaking world is Talon Drakeforge, a young man from the fire-scorched region of Ferroxia. Unlike his peers, who train dragons for battle, Talon dreams of a world unshackled from divine control—a place of freedom and fairness. When fate thrusts him into the trials, he faces not only rival champions but also the expectations of a watchful god. Each choice he makes could reshape his destiny and the world itself.
A Hero Who Defies the Rules
What sets The Trials of Divinia apart from traditional fantasy is its refusal to lean on familiar tropes. Talon is no chosen one destined for glory; he’s a reluctant hero wrestling with questions of morality and justice in a world where the gods set the rules. Harrington masterfully explores what it means to triumph when victory might come at a devastating cost. As Talon navigates shifting loyalties and uncovers a darker game beneath the trials, he begins to question whether winning is the true path to freedom.
Fans of The Hunger Games and Divergent will find familiar echoes in the story’s high-stakes competition and themes of rebellion, while its elemental trials and divine machinations evoke the magical intensity of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Yet Harrington’s voice is distinctly his own, blending vivid imagery, intricate worldbuilding, and pulse-pounding action into a narrative that feels both fresh and timeless.

A Saga of Danger, Wonder, and Destiny
From the fire-blasted landscapes of Ferroxia to the shimmering illusions of the Celestial Trials, The Trials of Divinia immerses readers in a world brimming with wonder and danger. Each trial is a breathtaking set piece, packed with strategic depth and emotional weight. Alliances are as fragile as the elements themselves, and every decision carries the potential for triumph or ruin. Harrington’s dynamic pacing and knack for suspense keep readers hooked, while the story’s deeper exploration of power, sacrifice, and humanity adds a layer of resonance that lingers long after the final page.
Dive into The Trials of Divinia and join Talon Drakeforge as he faces gods, trials, and the weight of a world’s fate. Seven champions. Seven trials. Seven gods. Seven regions. One winner. The question is: will victory be enough to change the game?
A New Voice in Fantasy
With The Trials of Divinia, Glen Harrington establishes himself as a bold new voice in YA fantasy. This opening installment promises an epic journey that will unfold across seven more books, each building on the intricate world and complex characters introduced here. For readers who crave stories that blend heart-pounding action with thought-provoking themes, this series is a must-read.
I live in Loughborough (England) with my wife Lydia, my two children Magnus and Caspian, and my dog Riley. Between my home life and my writing I work for the children’s charity the Youth Sport Trust as part of their Corporate Communications team.
I have enjoyed writing from a very young age – from writing stories at school, to covering local sports events as a match reporter, to pursuing a career in journalism. However, writing a novel has always been at the top of my personal bucket list. Throughout both my child and adult life I have enjoyed reading fantasy books aimed at young adults.
I started working on the Chronicles of Divinia in the summer of 2024, just before the birth of my second child, to give me a world to escape into when the pressures of everyday life became too much. Now, it has become more than an escapism, it’s my passion – and a legacy my boys will hopefully be proud of.
