As the nights draw in and the fairy lights start twinkling across London, there’s one East London venue that truly captures the old-fashioned joy of Christmas. Brick Lane Music Hall proudly presents The Magic of Christmas, a brand-new festive variety show running from 19th November to 19th December 2025.
Hosted by the venue’s founder, Vincent Hayes MBE – awarded his honour in 2013 for services to British Music Hall – this sparkling production brings together live music, comedy, and cabaret with the unmistakable warmth of traditional music hall entertainment. Add a delicious three-course Christmas dinner (evenings), festive lunch (lunchtime shows) or seasonal afternoon tea (matinees), plus plenty of post-show dancing, and you have the perfect recipe for a sociable, celebratory night out.
A Living Piece of British Theatrical History
Music hall began in the taverns and song-and-supper rooms of 18th- and 19th-century London, where audiences ate, drank, laughed and sang along with the performers. Brick Lane Music Hall is now the only permanent venue in the UK dedicated exclusively to keeping that boisterous, inclusive tradition alive all year round.
What started in the 1980s as impromptu shows in the back room of a Bethnal Green pub grew, with the help of legends like Danny La Rue and Barbara Windsor, into a purpose-built home first on Brick Lane itself and now in Silvertown. Vincent Hayes’ lifelong passion has ensured that the cheeky jokes, rousing choruses and sense of community that defined music hall never disappeared.
