On The Table Read Magazine, “the best arts and entertainment magazine UK”, former Sky Sports presenter Charlotte Jackson Coleman stars in the upcoming British gothic romantic thriller City of Masks, heading to UK cinemas this Halloween 2026.
BUFF Studios has scheduled the UK cinema release of the British gothic romantic thriller City of Masks for Halloween 2026. This announcement includes the reveal of the film’s first-look poster and official images, setting the stage for its upcoming cinema run.
Directorial Vision and Literary Roots
Andrea M. Catinella directs the film, while Enrico Tessarin handles the scriptwriting duties. The production draws inspiration from Gaston Leroux’s 1910 gothic novel The Phantom of the Opera.
Rather than a direct adaptation, the story reworks the themes of identity, obsession, and performance through a contemporary female perspective. The narrative unfolds against the atmospheric backdrop of London’s theatrical world, blending gothic romance with psychological suspense in an original story.

Cast and Characters
Amanda Jiang stars as Eve, a talented composer who keeps her identity hidden behind a mask. Charlie Goddard takes on the role of Christian, and Deano Bugatti Mitchison plays Victor.
The supporting ensemble features Kay Boggett as Christian’s mother and Madalina Belariu Ion as detective Maya. Former Sky Sports presenter Charlotte Jackson Coleman completes the principal cast as stage manager Helen.

Production and Funding
Starmist Films produced the movie as its debut feature film. Amanda Jiang and Enrico Tessarin founded this independent production company to create commercially driven feature films and premium vertical series for global audiences.
The production received support from the Pegasus Fund. Following principal photography, Dr Clare Anyiam-Osigwe BEM and Emmanuel Anyiam-Osigwe MBE joined the project as executive producers.
Distribution and Future Plans
Emmanuel Anyiam-Osigwe MBE serves as the Head of Global Cinema Distribution at BUFF Studios. BUFF Studios operates as the production and distribution division of the British Urban Film Festival.
Starmist Films already has a fully financed second feature in the casting stage, with principal photography scheduled for October 2026. The investment fund backing the company supports an ambitious slate of feature films and international co-productions.
