New Dance Studio
Diversity, the UK’s most successful dance troupe, is launching a state-of-the-art studio in Birmingham city centre next month, expanding its network of creative spaces to Britain’s second city.
Located on Icknield Street in the Jewellery Quarter, the bespoke venue joins the existing Diversity Studio in Essex and an online platform. It features world-class facilities accessible to all, from in-person classes for beginners starting at age four to sessions for adult professionals, plus options for exclusive event hire.
Classes and Community Opportunities
A variety of dance styles will be covered, including street, commercial, and contemporary, with weekly classes led by core members of Diversity. Participants in the community gain access to performance opportunities through annual productions and priority entry to specialized masterclasses.
This marks the second physical contemporary and creative hub following the flagship Essex location, known for its distinctive vibrant atmosphere. Birmingham has long been a key performance spot for the group, with enthusiastic local support dating back to their 2009 Britain’s Got Talent victory.
Diversity
The announcement aligns with preparations for Diversity’s innovative tour concept, SOUL, set for spring 2026. The production will visit 32 towns and cities across 70 dates, kicking off with five performances at Birmingham’s Alexandra Theatre from February 11-14.
Since claiming the Britain’s Got Talent title in its third series, Diversity has achieved widespread acclaim through sold-out tours in the UK and Ireland, numerous television appearances and live events, and the 2020 Virgin Media ‘Must See Moment’ honor at the British Academy Television Awards. In 2023, the group established its initial dance space in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex.
Members’ Individual Successes
Members continue to thrive individually. Ashley Banjo received an MBE in 2023 for his contributions to dance, including community teaching, choreography and performances with Diversity, judging on ITV’s Dancing on Ice, hosting the BAFTA-nominated The Real Full Monty and the International Emmy, Broadcast Award, and Royal Television Society-winning The Real Full Monty: Ladies Night, and co-presenting the Pride of Britain Awards with Carol Vorderman.
Jordan Banjo has presented shows like BBC One’s primetime BAFTA-nominated The Greatest Dancer. He and Perri Kiely co-host the weekday KISS Breakfast radio program.
Recently, Ashley, Jordan, and Perri launched the weekly podcast Brothers Uncovered, featuring segments on the game Would You Rather?.
