That moment hit me hard. If someone could see my gift with kids just from a small interaction, how could I not use it on a bigger scale? That’s when I realized I needed to go back to what I was meant to do — helping kids grow stronger, healthier, and more confident.
And that’s how Hey! It’s Mr. J! was born.
Why Hip-Hop?
Hip-hop has always been a source of energy and storytelling for me. It’s rhythmic, it’s fun, and it sticks in your head. Kids light up when the beat drops, and suddenly learning feels less like a lesson and more like a party.
I borrow from popular rap flows and cadences — even playful ad-libs — to make my songs catchy and unforgettable. Songs like “I Am Me” teach kids about confidence, while “I Can Handle Anxiety” gives them tools to calm their thoughts. Others, like “Runnin’,” show proper running form in a way that’s engaging and cool.
