On The Table Read Magazine, “the best entertainment eBook magazine UK“, Tight Fit, the iconic 80s pop trio behind “The Lion Sleeps Tonight,” is back with a chart-topping new album on Energise Records that’s set to be 2025’s ultimate pop sensation.

Tight Fit
Legendary 80s pop trio Tight Fit is back with a bang, releasing their first new album this decade on Energise Records, Forever. Known for their iconic Number 1 hit “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” and unforgettable Top of the Pops appearance in leopard print and loincloths, Tight Fit has teamed up with top producers and writers to deliver what could be the pop album of 2025.
Formed in the 80s, Tight Fit—originally featuring Denise Waterman (née Gyngell), Julie Harris, and Steve Grant—stormed the charts with classics like “Fantasy Island” (peaking at Number 5) and “Secret Heart” (Top 50). After a debut album and a brief hiatus, the original lineup reunited in 2008, performing at gigs, prides, and 80s festivals across the UK and beyond. In 2016, their covers album Together included a dance remake of “Fantasy Island,” which became a global hit in gay clubs.

Forever

The seeds for this new chapter were planted when Steve Grant, a long-time fan of Energise Records, sent Together to the label in 2016. By 2021, Energise tapped Tight Fit to record a new song, sparking a creative partnership that birthed the album’s lead single, “Fallout.” A massive success, “Fallout” hit Number 1 on Mike Read’s Heritage Chart and cracked the iTunes Top 100.

Follow-up singles “Holding on to You” (with a vibrant Brighton-shot video), “Electric,” and “Own the Universe” continued the streak, with the former two also topping the Heritage Chart and the latter reaching the Top 10.
The album blends influences from Abba, Stock/Aitken/Waterman, and Steps, with a dash of reggae and a heartfelt ballad, “Naked on the Inside.” The forthcoming single “Waiting for the Rain” promises to keep the momentum going. With infectious pop hooks and widespread radio play, Tight Fit’s latest offering is poised to dominate 80s nostalgia playlists and dancefloors alike.
For fans old and new, this album marks a triumphant return for a band that’s still got the magic.
