Infinite Coles, the acclaimed artist, performer, dancer, and model born and raised in New York City, has revealed details of his highly anticipated debut album, SweetFace Killah. Produced by Zach Witness—known for work with artists like Doechii, Frank Ocean, and Erykah Badu—the 12-track project drops on December 5 via Don’t Sleep Records/PIAS. The album captures Coles’ vocal prowess, bold lyricism, and experimental soundscapes, reflecting his path through personal struggles as a queer African American from a rap dynasty.
Double Single Tackles Estrangement and Trolls
Accompanying the announcement is the double single “SweetFaceKillah” and “Dad & I,” which delve into themes of joy, pain, love, anger, and resilience. These tracks address Coles’ complex, estranged relationship with his father, Wu-Tang Clan icon Ghostface Killah, from whom he has been separated for over a decade without contact.
“SweetFaceKillah” transforms a homophobic slur hurled by online trolls into an empowering hook for a vibrant R&B house track brimming with queer defiance and joy. Coles delivers sharp rap verses and soulful vocals that confront his father directly, questioning paternal neglect and societal expectations around masculinity and sexuality.
The song’s film noir-inspired video, directed by Coles’ close collaborator and model Ugly Worldwide (Jazelle), features surreal elements like an older man rapping the intro in a 90s girl rapper‘s voice. Coles appears fierce and alluring in braids, PVC, and red leather, voguing and performing with seductive intensity.
In contrast, “Dad & I” channels 90s hip-hop soul vibes pioneered by Mary J. Blige, with raw production, emotive vocals, and lyrics forming a heartfelt message to his father.
