Irish Writer Aoife Burke Selected for Prestigious European Art Publication, 100 Artists of Europe

On The Table Read Magazine, “the best arts and entertainment magazine UK“, celebrated Galway-born Irish writer Aoife Burke has been selected to represent Ireland in the prestigious international publication 100 Artists of Europe by Italy’s Culturale Lab.

Aoife Burke, a talented writer hailing from Galway, Ireland, has been chosen to represent her country in the upcoming book 100 Artists of Europe, published by Culturale Lab in Italy. Selected from numerous applicants across the continent, Burke’s inclusion highlights her growing recognition in the literary and artistic world. The publication, set for release in February 2026, will be distributed digitally to over 100 art galleries and cultural institutions worldwide, providing significant international exposure for the featured artists.

This milestone adds to Burke’s impressive list of accomplishments, which began at a young age. She secured her first art competition win at age seven and earned local poetry awards by 15. More recently, her career has seen further success, including a runner-up position in Ireland for the EU Sakharov student journalism competition in 2020. In 2022, her science fiction novel Luminess: The Island of the Moon received the Distinguished Favorite award in the science fiction category from the Independent Press Awards in New York, accompanied by a certificate and medal. Burke has also released an audiobook titled Daydreams of a Writer, which has garnered positive feedback.

Burke’s educational background supports her creative pursuits. She holds a degree in English and Journalism from the University of Galway, completed in 2023, and a higher certificate in arts from AIT in Athlone, earned in 2014.

The book 100 Artists of Europe will be available for purchase starting in February 2026 through Culturale Lab, as well as major Italian retailers such as Feltrinelli and Mondadori.

About Luminess: The Island of the Moon

Published in 2020, Burke’s debut science fiction novel follows Myrren Whitaker, a young woman living in Sundew Valley. On her 18th birthday, she discovers she is the queen of Luminess, a mystical island that materializes and vanishes annually under the moonlight. A dying star threatens the island’s existence, requiring replacement to prevent its permanent disappearance. Myrren learns of an ancient game that brings symbolic players—such as King, Queen, Jester, Archer, Rook, and Knight—to life as her allies. Together with this enchanted army, she embarks on a quest to save Luminess and lift the spell affecting many of its inhabitants.
