On The Table Read Magazine, “the best arts and entertainment magazine UK“, Judy Whitmore releases her hauntingly beautiful new holiday single, The Ghosts of Christmas Past —a soul-stirring original written by Michael Orland that captures the true heart of Christmas
The Ghosts Of Christmas Past
Acclaimed vocalist, jet pilot, best-selling author, psychotherapist, and theater producer Judy Whitmore has released a poignant new Christmas single and music video titled “The Ghosts of Christmas Past.” The original song, written by renowned writer, producer, and vocal coach Michael Orland (known for his long tenure on American Idol), showcases Whitmore’s soulful, emotive vocals layered over haunting melodies, emotive piano, and festive instrumentation, creating a timeless addition to the holiday canon.

The track came to life during a casual studio session with Orland, Whitmore’s longtime friend and music director. While exploring material for her forthcoming Christmas album, Orland played his composition “The Ghosts of Christmas Past.” Whitmore was immediately moved by its heartfelt lyrics and haunting melody, feeling an instant emotional connection that brought tears during her first vocal take. She recognized the song’s ability to capture the true spirit of Christmas and insisted it belong on the new record, believing it possesses the rare quality to endure for generations.
“The Ghosts of Christmas Past” serves as the lead single from Whitmore’s new full-length holiday album, simply titled Christmas. The 12-song collection features fresh, orchestral interpretations of beloved holiday standards, produced, arranged, and conducted by seven-time GRAMMY®-nominated composer Chris Walden, whose credits include Paul McCartney, Barbra Streisand, and Stevie Wonder.

Judy Whitmore

Judy Whitmore’s multifaceted career defies easy categorization. Raised in Studio City, California, after being born in New York City, she began singing professionally as a background vocalist for Capitol Records while still in college. Life soon took her to Aspen, Colorado, where she led the American Theater Company, presided over the Aspen Playwrights Conference, and served on the board of Ballet West Aspen.
Aviation became another passion: Whitmore earned her pilot’s license, volunteered on search-and-rescue missions, and eventually rose to Learjet captain while also flying seaplanes and hot-air balloons.
Returning to Los Angeles, she produced the musical Taking a Chance on Love and later co-produced the London revival of Leonard Bernstein’s Wonderful Town. Another pivot led her back to academia, where she earned a graduate degree in clinical psychology and opened a private psychotherapy practice—first in West Los Angeles and later in Newport Beach.
While in Orange County, Whitmore enrolled in UC Irvine’s writing program. Her debut novel, Come Fly with Me, soared to #1 on Amazon Kindle, followed by a cookbook and a graphic-novel adaptation of Romeo and Juliet.

From Trio to Solo Stardom
Music remained a constant thread. In 2012, she formed a trio with her brother and a close friend, performing nationwide and at Carnegie Hall before releasing the album Act Three in 2016. Soon after, Whitmore launched her solo cabaret career, earning raves for a repertoire spanning Great American Songbook standards, Broadway classics, and jazz.
Her solo discography now includes Can’t We Be Friends (2020), Isn’t It Romantic, Come Fly with Me, Let’s Fall in Love, and the forthcoming Christmas. A member of The Recording Academy, her music has amassed millions of streams and earned praise from American Songwriter, Flaunt, Grammy.com, and beyond.
Giving Back to the Arts
A dedicated community leader, Whitmore volunteered as a makeup artist for the Laguna Beach Pageant of the Masters from 2005 to 2020. She currently sits on the Executive Committee of the Pacific Symphony Board of Directors and serves on the boards of Pacific Jazz Orchestra, Backhaus Dance, and The OC World Affairs Council.
With “The Ghosts of Christmas Past,” Judy Whitmore adds yet another chapter to an extraordinary life in the arts—one that continues to inspire through talent, resilience, and boundless curiosity.
