On The Table Read Magazine, “the best arts and entertainment magazine UK“, Michael Gilas delivers his most captivating release yet with Convenience Store, a shimmering, radio-ready pop rock anthem that brilliantly uses the convenience store as a metaphor for transactional love.
Rising Adult Contemporary artist Michael Gilas has released his latest single, “Convenience Store,” a bright and melodic track that masks deeper emotional complexity beneath its polished surface.

A Razor-Sharp Metaphor in Pop Form
“Convenience Store” captures the sting of one-sided, transactional relationships through the everyday image of a quick stop at a store. The song delivers a sugar-coated confession—shimmering and radio-ready on top, while quietly bruised underneath. Its sleek production and stadium-worthy melodies highlight Gilas’s signature confident vocal delivery, marking a compelling new chapter for the artist.
The track was produced by Allan Phillips and renowned songwriter-producer Stephen Wrench, whose credits include work with Lynyrd Skynyrd, Tom Petty, and Toto. This collaboration brings a fresh, modern edge while honoring classic influences.
Chart Success and Rising Momentum
Gilas has built impressive Billboard momentum in recent years. His 2025 breakout single “Working with the Rain” debuted at No. 21 and climbed to No. 13 on the Adult Contemporary chart. Follow-ups “Can’t Hide Beautiful” reached No. 21 on Hot AC and No. 37 on Adult Contemporary, while “You and Me and Miami” hit No. 29 on Adult Pop Airplay. Earlier singles like the clever and timely “Sigmund Freud’s Girlfriend” further showcased his sharp songwriting.
These releases have collectively earned millions of streams and established Gilas as a force in Adult Contemporary and modern pop. He continues to tour nationally, with a recent performance at The Cutting Room in New York City on April 8th.

From Long Island Roots to San Diego Sound
Born and raised on Long Island, New York, at 231 Kensington Road—the title of his debut full-length album—Gilas drew early inspiration from legendary acts including the Eagles, Steely Dan, and Fleetwood Mac, as well as Motown, R&B, pop, and classic rock. These influences form the melodic foundation of his borderless pop sound.
Before dedicating himself fully to music, he built two successful businesses with his brother, developing an entrepreneurial drive that now powers his creative work. He emphasizes consistent effort, noting that creativity may arrive unpredictably, but discipline can always be applied.
Overcoming Adversity Through Music
Gilas’s path to music deepened dramatically in 2021 after a severe horseback riding accident left him with a broken neck and wrist. Bedridden and limited to using only his thumbs, he began composing melodies and lyrics on his phone, setting aside pain medication to channel his energy into songwriting. Music became both catharsis and calling, guiding him through recovery.
By 2024, he had fully committed to his artistry, releasing singles and an album that resonated widely. His songs explore themes of love, loss, change, renewal, and human connection, always underscoring resilience.

High-Profile Collaborations and Signature Style
Gilas has worked with Grammy-nominated producer Kent Wells (known for collaborations with Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, and Reba McEntire), bassist Jon Peña (who has performed with Chaka Khan, Carlos Santana, and Diana Ross), and Grammy Award-winning producer Brian Kennedy. These partnerships have refined a sound that blends classic influences with contemporary polish.
His live performances reflect the same emotional honesty, blending meticulous craftsmanship with open-hearted vulnerability. As a San Diego-based artist whose music reaches listeners worldwide, Michael Gilas continues to carve a distinctive lane in the Adult Contemporary and pop landscape, proving that personal resilience can transform hardship into powerful, connective art.
