Mayfair clings to the top spot like it’s glued there with solid gold. Average price today? £5.55 million. That’s more than 13,800 times its original £400 price tag from 1935. If you thought landing on Mayfair with hotels was painful before, now it’s the financial equivalent of stepping on Lego made of actual diamonds.
The Shock Silver Medalist: Trafalgar Square
Hold the phone. The pigeons have won. Trafalgar Square has rocketed from mid-table mediocrity (seventh place, £240) all the way to number two at a breezy £3.6 million. That’s right – the place with the lions and the tourists doing selfies has leapfrogged Park Lane, Bond Street, and pretty much everyone else who thought they were fancy. In 2025 Monopoly, you’ll bankrupt yourself just trying to buy the square with Nelson on it.

Oxford Street sneaks into bronze at £2.89 million (up one spot), while poor old Park Lane – the original runner-up – has been shunted down to fourth at £2.51 million. Leicester Square rounds out the top five (£2.4m), which means the new “prestige” end of the board is basically the West End’s greatest tourist traps. Somewhere, a 1930s toff is spinning in his grave.
Biggest Climbers (The Streets That Got Gentrified Into Oblivion)
- Northumberland Avenue – up nine spaces to £2.28m
- Marlborough Street – up five to £2.09m
- Pall Mall – up five to £1.66m
These are the Monopoly equivalent of that mate who used to drink lager and now only drinks natural wine in Hoxton.
Biggest Losers (The Fall from Grace Club)
Bond Street plunges eleven – yes, ELEVEN – places to £1.4m. Eleven! That’s the biggest drop on the board. Piccadilly also face-plants five spots. Turns out luxury shopping streets are great for handbags but apparently not quite as great for actual living these days.
The Purples Are Still Purple, Just More Expensive
Old Kent Road refuses to be glamorous and stays dead last at £378,291. That’s still six times its original £60 price, mind you. Buying the cheapest property on the board now costs more than the average UK salary. Progress!
