Monster Rally And Jay Wadley Team Up For Funky New Bonus Track, Cassiopeia

Eclectic producer, multi-instrumentalist, and visual artist Monster Rally (Ted Feighan) has expanded his latest musical era with the release of a brand-new bonus track, “Cassiopeia.” For this vibrant release, Feighan teamed up with award-winning composer and producer Jay Wadley, whose impressive screen scoring credits include projects like I’m Thinking of Ending Things and Tell Me Lies.

Despite working in immersive soundscapes today, both artists share foundational roots in heavier music. This shared background allows their individual styles to blend seamlessly on “Cassiopeia,” resulting in what stands out as one of the most danceable moments in the broader Echoes of the Emerald Sands project. Driven by dynamic basslines, live drums, and striking falsetto vocals, the collaboration transforms into a gritty, funk-infused disco party designed for the dance floor.

A Bold Departure on Echoes of the Emerald Sands

Released via Flowering Jungle, Echoes of the Emerald Sands marks a massive milestone for Monster Rally as his tenth full-length record. Going into the project, Feighan set a clear rule for himself: to create something entirely unlike anything he had crafted before.

For a creator known for his diverse artistic tastes, this meant stepping far outside his comfort zone. Since the inception of Monster Rally in 2010, Feighan was widely recognized for tropical, sample-based plunderphonics. For this new record, however, he entirely abandoned those methods, opting instead to record all instrumentation from scratch at his home studio in Cleveland.

An All-Star Cast of Collaborators

Another defining shift for Echoes of the Emerald Sands is that it serves as Monster Rally’s very first record that is not entirely instrumental. To bring his new vision to life, Feighan enlisted a massive roster of musical peers and industry friends to contribute vocal performances.

From Screamo Bands to Immersive Soundscapes

Ted Feighan’s journey to becoming Monster Rally has been defined by constant reinvention and refusal to stay in a single creative lane. Before launching the Monster Rally project, he spent his youth and early adult years playing in various bands, including the MySpace-era screamo outfit Driver Side Impact.

Around that same period, Feighan developed a passion for collecting vinyl records, particularly gravitating toward album art that featured warm, peaceful aesthetics. Inspired by hip-hop producers who pioneered sample-based production, he eventually acquired a Roland SP303 sampler and began diving deep into his record collection.

From his 2010 debut EP through 2022’s Botanica Dream, Monster Rally built a reputation on psychedelic beats that painted pictures of lush, equatorial landscapes. These sonic worlds closely mirrored his collage-based visual art, which has earned commissions from major commercial clients like Topo Chico, June Shine, and Urban Outfitters. With Echoes of the Emerald Sands and the addition of “Cassiopeia,” Feighan continues to prove his fearless, adventurous artistic spirit.
