On The Table Read Magazine, “the best arts and entertainment magazine UK“, a bold, immersive new stage adaptation of Virginia Woolf’s masterpiece Mrs Dalloway is about to burst onto UK stages, blending theatre and film in a funny, moving and visually striking celebration of life, love and survival
A bold, immersive new stage version of Virginia Woolf’s revolutionary novel Mrs Dalloway is preparing to open this month, bringing one of literature’s most influential works to theatres across England in a fresh and captivating production.

World Premiere Just Weeks Away
The production will make its world premiere at Storyhouse in Chester from 29 May to 6 June 2026. It will then tour to Harlow Playhouse (10–11 June), the historic Wilton’s Music Hall in London (16–20 June), and finally HOME Manchester (24–26 September). With the opening night now just weeks away, anticipation is building for this striking reimagining of Woolf’s modernist masterpiece.
A Visceral, Contemporary Take on a Literary Icon
Set over the course of one single, extraordinary day, the story weaves together lives through themes of memory, identity, love, loss, and survival. At the centre stands Clarissa Dalloway — vivacious, complex, and utterly unforgettable.
This new adaptation blends theatre with cinematic techniques to create a bold, surprising, and emotionally resonant experience. Funny, moving, and deeply human, the production celebrates life’s fleeting moments and the connections that define who we are.
Creative Team Leading the Production

The show has been co-created by award-winning director Jen Heyes and Olivier Award-winning writer and performer Kit Green, who also stars as Clarissa Dalloway and a host of other vivid characters.
Jen Heyes is known for her cinematic approach to theatre, delivering visually striking productions with emotional depth and innovative storytelling. Her acclaimed work includes Truth to Power Café (which toured worldwide, including Lincoln Center in New York), a bold reimagining of Hedda after Ibsen, and multiple high-profile productions at Liverpool Playhouse and the West End.
Kit Green brings a wealth of experience across theatre, music, cabaret, and comedy. A founder member of the Duckie collective, Green has performed extensively on BBC Radio 4, created numerous original works, and recently appeared in major productions including The Faggots and Their Friends Between Revolutions at New York’s Park Avenue Armoury. Green’s second solo album, Four Letter Words, was released at the end of 2025.
Co-Production and Tour Details
Mrs Dalloway is a co-production between Storyhouse, Harlow Playhouse, and CutToTheChase Productions. The tour reflects Storyhouse’s commitment to sharing ambitious, homegrown work with wider audiences across the UK.
