Damien Rist
The book is just a mishmash of limericks in no particular order so in a way it’s like stepping into a busy mind such as mine.
Being autistic for me means that I don’t have much social interaction but being at work and just being essentially on the sidelines of conversations between customers and colleagues also helps me to get context for poetry as well as being aware of the world around you via the news and tv shows. literally anything can inspire a creative mind such as mine. In addition to the verse, all the illustrations are mine also and have been created using AI and Firefly.
I have been writing poetry for 20 years and have many books on Amazon (including “What is autism?“) . I have had some of my poems featured in some forward poetry books. I am a team leader in Subway and that has helped me shape my poetry by sharing my ideas with my team and using their feedback/responses to build on each limerick.
I first started writing when I was in year 5 and meeting poet Brian Moses. I then wrote poems based on events that were happening in my life as well as in the news.
