On The Table Read Magazine, “the best entertainment eBook magazine UK“, ROREY’s new single “Soho Grand” offers a captivating preview of her upcoming EP Dysphoria, a deeply personal exploration of her experience with bipolar disorder.
Soho Grand
“Soho Grand,” the captivating new single from NY bedroom pop artist ROREY, offers a glimpse into the introspective and often turbulent world explored on her upcoming sophomore EP, Dysphoria. This EP is a deeply personal and artistic response to ROREY’s diagnosis of bipolar disorder in 2021, a period during which she wrote six of the EP’s eight tracks.
“Soho Grand,” like the rest of Dysphoria, isn’t simply a reflection of her experience; it’s an embodiment of it. The song beautifully captures the cognitive dissonance inherent in navigating a mental health journey. ROREY’s haunting melodies intertwine with her ethereal vocals, creating a sonic landscape that is both vulnerable and mesmerizing. Swirls of hypnotic instrumentals envelop the listener, mirroring the fluctuating and often overwhelming nature of living with bipolar disorder.
“Soho Grand” and the Dysphoria EP promise to be more than just music; they are an intimate and honest exploration of self, offering listeners a powerful connection to ROREY’s lived experience and a deeper understanding of the complexities of mental health. The single’s release sets the stage for an EP that promises to be both cathartic for the artist and profoundly relatable for anyone who has grappled with the challenges of mental well-being.
I think we’ve all been at a place where we wondered if things would ever get better. That feeling kept me from seeking help because, for a while, I thought, What’s the point if it never does? Spoiler alert—it did. Healing isn’t linear; for me, it took years of commitment and surrender. To anyone looking for relief, I’d encourage you to lean into the uncertainty. Trust the process—it’s worth it.

ROREY

New York native singer-songwriter ROREY (24) brings a bi-coastal perspective to her music, having spent her formative years between Manhattan and Los Angeles. A self-taught musician, she began playing guitar at age six and added piano to her repertoire at 14. Leaving college in 2019 to fully dedicate herself to music, she released her debut single, “Predictable,” in 2021. ROREY’s songwriting is characterized by distinctive rhyme schemes, brutally honest and vulnerable lyrics, and instantly memorable hooks.
Drawing inspiration from a wide range of sources, including everyday conversations and text messages, ROREY crafts lyrics that resonate with raw emotion. While she’s the only musician in her family, her childhood home was filled with music, thanks to her parents’ influence, which introduced her to artists like Santana, Pink Floyd, and Jethro Tull.
ROREY’s talent quickly garnered attention, notably from Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, leading to coveted placements on prominent Spotify and Apple Music playlists, including Fresh Finds, Fresh Finds Indie, New Music Daily, New in Pop, and numerous Japanese editorial playlists. Following the release of her debut EP, Apt 7d (produced by Anna Shoemaker, Ryn Weaver, and Blonder), she has been featured in publications like Office Magazine, Ladygunn, and Notion. Recent live performances include opening for Mitte Hope at Baby’s Alright in Brooklyn, and she is set to headline her first show at the Knitting Factory (Baker Falls) in Manhattan’s East Village.
ROREY’s music invites listeners to confront their inner selves, offering a soundtrack for both introspection and catharsis. Whether you need a good cry or a solitary dance party, ROREY’s music provides a space for emotional release and connection.
I think I say outloud what some people are afraid to say. It keeps me going to know my songs help people get in touch with their emotions. My songwriting has been my greatest confidant and my creative process my only reprieve from the precarious nature of life.
