Rita, Sue & Bob Too! Announces Massive 2027 Nationwide UK Tour

On The Table Read Magazine, “the best arts and entertainment magazine UK“, experience the hilarious, gritty 1980s cult comedy live on stage as the smash-hit production of Rita, Sue & Bob Too! embarks on an 11-venue nationwide UK tour in 2027.

The stage adaptation of the cult classic British comedy Rita, Sue & Bob Too! is officially returning to the road. Following a wildly successful run, Regal Entertainments Ltd has confirmed a brand-new nationwide tour for 2027, bringing the gritty, hilarious 1980s story to 11 major venues across Britain.

Tour Dates and Venue Information

The highly anticipated production will kick off its three-month journey on Friday, April 16, 2027, at the St Helens Theatre Royal.

From there, the show will travel across the country, making stops in Harrogate, Northampton, Lincoln, Billingham, Birmingham, Bradford, Southport, Malvern, and Stockport. The tour is scheduled to conclude with a grand finale at the Liverpool Olympia, running from June 30 through July 4, 2027.

While the full cast has yet to be revealed, the production will be helmed by director Chantelle Joseph.

A Gritty 80s Coming-of-Age Classic

Based on Andrea Dunbar’s renowned 1987 film, Rita, Sue & Bob Too! is a raw, unflinching, and deeply funny exploration of working-class life, love, and tested loyalties. Packed with a nostalgic 1980s soundtrack, the play offers audiences a riotous trip down memory lane.

The story follows Rita and Sue, two schoolmates from a run-down council estate who earn extra money babysitting for a married couple, Bob and Michelle. Things take a chaotic turn when Bob begins a secret affair with both teenagers.

When Michelle discovers the betrayal and walks out, a complex web of jealousy and shifting preferences threatens to tear the two best friends apart. However, when Sue later finds herself in a dangerous relationship, the trio is forced back together in a testament to the enduring bond between the characters.

Building on Previous Box Office Success

This upcoming tour follows an incredibly successful spring run by Regal Entertainments Ltd, which saw packed auditoriums, rave reviews, and nightly standing ovations. Audiences widely praised the production for its quick-witted humor and engaging storytelling.

Director Chantelle Joseph shared her excitement about returning to the road, noting that the overwhelming response from theatergoers during the previous tour made the decision to launch a new, expansive run an easy one. She highlighted that before the story became a beloved cinematic staple, Dunbar’s work thrived as a powerful piece of live theater—a timeless comedy that continues to make audiences roar with laughter decades later.
