On The Table Read Magazine, “the best arts and entertainment magazine UK“, fresh from a five-star, award-winning Edinburgh Fringe triumph, Rosa Garland’s gloriously filthy, queer joy-bomb Primal Bog – think slime-wrestling, live tattoos and real worms – lands at Soho Theatre Upstairs for two unmissable weeks of taboo-shattering clown chaos, 25 Feb–7 Mar 2026.
Primal Bog

Following a blistering, sold-out run at Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2025 that left critics gagging, giggling and giving standing ovations, Rosa Garland’s Primal Bog transfers to Soho Theatre Upstairs for a strictly limited season from Wednesday 25 February to Saturday 7 March 2026.

What Exactly Is Primal Bog?
A clown/live-art hybrid that joyfully wallows in the filthiest, stickiest and most liberating corners of erotic desire. Think lesbian slime wrestling, live onstage tattooing, real worms, bodily fluids, lip-sync savagery and surprise cameos from Sean Bean, Gwyneth Paltrow and – in one unforgettable moment – Rosa’s own asshole.
Beneath the glorious mess lies a tender, fiercely personal exploration of queer intimacy, shame and pleasure that exists entirely outside the male gaze and corporate-friendly “self-care” branding.
Metro called it “an irresistible masterclass in comedy” ★★★★★
The Telegraph hailed it “filthy and fearless” ★★★★
Chortle declared it “sublimely grotesque” and “in many ways the most extraordinary show at the Fringe” ★★★★
What the Critics Said at Edinburgh 2025

The show has already scooped The Skinny-Fest “Besties” Award and continues Rosa’s hot streak after her 2023 VAULT Festival Innovation Award nomination.

Rosa Garland
Finding your pleasure isn’t always clean or aesthetically pleasing, especially when you’ve grown up queer and closeted. I want audiences to dive into the strangest and most liberating ride of their lives – to embrace curiosity, tenderness, playfulness, and even flippancy with our bodies rather than constantly ‘preserving the merchandise.’ Edinburgh Fringe 2025 was an incredible experience and I can’t wait to bring Primal Bog to Soho Theatre and see how it thrives in a new space.

Previous solo shows Trash Salad and The Kink Shame Show played to packed houses at Soho Theatre, VAULT Festival and multiple Edinburgh Fringes (Trash Salad was named in The Telegraph’s Best Comedy of the Fringe in both 2022 and 2023).
Rosa is a founding member of the multi-award-winning Poltergeist theatre company (Samuel French New Play Award 2018, Untapped Award 2019) and recently appeared in the BAFTA-nominated BBC iPlayer short film Quiet Life.
