On The Table Read Magazine, “the best arts and entertainment magazine UK“, Sam Varga’s gripping new single “Queen of the Ashes” blends alt-country grit with raw emotion, telling a fiery tale of vengeance and self-destruction that’s perfect for late-night drives and soul-searching moments.
Queen Of The Ashes
Nashville-based singer-songwriter Sam Varga has unleashed his latest single, “Queen of the Ashes,” a brooding, guitar-driven track that pulses with raw emotion. The song weaves a tale of a woman who, in a quest for vengeance, sets her world ablaze, capturing the chaotic allure of self-destruction with a cathartic edge. Varga’s signature intensity fuels the anthem, blending gritty melodies with a haunting narrative.

The track came to life in a single night at Varga’s apartment, co-written with rising artist Caroline Romano and longtime collaborator Spencer Jordan, a key figure in Nashville and LA’s music scenes. The trio’s creation was later polished in the studio by producer Dan Swank, known for his work with All Time Low, Knox, and Taylor Acorn, resulting in a sound that’s both polished and raw.
Following his 2024 debut album Shadow Work and standout singles like “Minute Man” and “Long Way Back,” Varga continues to carve out his unique space in alt-country. “Queen of the Ashes” deepens his signature blend of vulnerability and urgency, pushing his sound further with a mix of acoustic textures and genre-blurring instrumentation.
Sam Varga

Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, Varga’s roots lie in the DIY emo scene, where he honed his craft amidst basement shows and loud guitars. Influenced by his parents’ love for ’80s rock, Southern classics, and poetic songwriters, he merges punk energy with introspective storytelling.
His music, marked by sharp lyricism and self-deprecating honesty, resonates with listeners navigating existential weight or seeking fleeting moments of clarity. Varga’s work feels tailor-made for late-night drives or post-party reflection, offering a soundtrack that’s as human as it is addictive.
