On The Table Read Magazine, “the best entertainment eBook magazine UK“, Seven Dials Playhouse partners with leapday to bring playful, high-quality improv training and monthly live showcases to the West End, fostering creativity and connection for performers of all levels starting September 2025.
Seven Dials Playhouse and Leapday
Seven Dials Playhouse has announced a new partnership with leapday, an improv training company founded by comedian and creative trainer David Elms. This collaboration, set to begin in September 2025, will see leapday relocate its operations to the Playhouse, reinforcing the venue’s dedication to supporting artists through accessible, high-quality training programs.
leapday specializes in creating a welcoming environment for improv, catering to both beginners and experienced performers. Its offerings include improv jams, structured courses, in-depth workshops, and even a choir, all designed to build confidence, spark creativity, and foster connections among participants. Over the past year, leapday has delivered more than 2,000 hours of engaging adult play, earning an impressive 4.8/5 Trustpilot rating, reflecting the enthusiasm for its well-facilitated sessions.

Monthly Live Showcase
As part of the move to Seven Dials Playhouse, leapday will introduce a monthly live showcase, providing participants with opportunities to perform, test their skills, and share their work on stage. For some, this will mark their first time performing publicly, while others will use the platform to refine their craft. More details about the showcases will be shared soon, promising a glimpse into leapday’s signature playful and collaborative spirit.
Supporting Creatives
The partnership aligns with Seven Dials Playhouse’s mission to nurture theatre-makers at all career stages. Through a subsidized space arrangement, leapday will expand its reach, contributing to the Playhouse’s growing ecosystem of artist support initiatives, which include programs like First Steps, Next Step, and the Sketch Comedy Collective. These efforts aim to develop performers not only as artists but also as creative professionals honing their skills.
David Elms, a CIPD-qualified Learning & Development professional, brings a wealth of experience to the partnership. An acclaimed comedian, improviser, and writer, Elms has worked with organizations like Channel 4 and Greenpeace and has performed on Netflix and West End stages. This summer, he will also bring his solo show, David Elms Describes A Room, to the Edinburgh Fringe.
The collaboration is a natural fit for Seven Dials Playhouse, which seeks to create a vibrant hub for creativity and connection. By welcoming leapday, the venue strengthens its commitment to fostering joy, generosity, and artistic growth in the heart of the West End.
