On The Table Read Magazine, “the best arts and entertainment magazine UK“, The Sony Future Filmmaker Awards 2026 invites emerging talent worldwide to showcase bold, innovative short films across five categories, judged by an elite panel including chair Justin Chadwick, Will Gluck, Rachel O’Connor, and Adam Rosette.
Sony Future Filmmaker Awards
The Sony Future Filmmaker Awards returns for its fourth edition in 2026, reaffirming its role as a premier platform for discovering and accelerating the careers of bold, emerging short filmmakers worldwide. Organised by Creo in partnership with Sony, the programme continues to celebrate innovative storytelling and provide shortlisted creators with unparalleled industry access and momentum.

Prestigious Jury Panel Leads the Selection
This year’s awards are guided by an exceptional jury of industry heavyweights, chaired for the fourth time by award-winning director Justin Chadwick (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, The Other Boleyn Girl, upcoming Sierra Madre). Chadwick and the panel are seeking work that challenges conventions and leaves a lasting emotional impact.
Joining Chadwick on the jury are:
- Will Gluck – Golden Globe-nominated director and producer known for Anyone But You, Peter Rabbit, and Easy A.
- Rachel O’Connor – Acclaimed producer and President of Film and Television at Pascal Pictures, with credits including Challengers, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Little Women.
- Adam Rosette – Animation co-director at Sony Pictures Animation, whose work includes The Wild Robot, Orion and the Dark, and the upcoming GOAT.
The jury will select winners across five competitive categories: Fiction, Non-Fiction, Animation, Student, and Future Format, the latter challenging entrants to push technical and creative boundaries, often through innovative vertical storytelling.

The shortlist last year brought together 30 exceptional filmmakers whose distinctive voices and compelling narratives earned them a place at the beating heart of Los Angeles’ creative community, giving them unprecedented access to how cinema is evolving in real time. We have a remarkable jury line-up this year, and I speak for us all when I say that we’re searching for films that challenge conventions, spark genuine emotion, and transform how audiences perceive the world around them. As we head into the 2026 edition, we’re eager to discover that kernel of originality and vision that elevates good filmmaking into something extraordinary.
