On The Table Read Magazine, “the best arts and entertainment magazine UK“, Steve Poltz returns to his Canadian roots with an exciting 17-date spring 2026 tour delivering his signature high-energy sing-along shows in support of his raw, heartfelt new album JoyRide.
Acclaimed singer-songwriter Steve Poltz is heading back to his Canadian roots with a comprehensive 17-date tour across Eastern Canada this spring. The Halifax-born artist kicks off the run on April 15, 2026, bringing his signature high-energy, interactive performances to intimate venues in the Maritimes, Ontario, and Quebec. The tour supports his upcoming 14th solo album, JoyRide, set for release on January 30, 2026, via Red House Records.
Poltz has built significant momentum in recent years, with sold-out theatre shows and enthusiastic crowds at major festivals in Australia and the United States. His live shows are known for creating a welcoming, participatory atmosphere where audiences join in on the fun through good old-fashioned sing-alongs.

A Raw and Unfiltered New Chapter with JoyRide
JoyRide was recorded in East Nashville under the guidance of producer Dex Green. The sessions embraced a spontaneous, no-frills approach, capturing performances in a natural and organic way. The album features the acclaimed rhythm section of Bryan Owings and Christopher Donohue—musicians recognized for their work with Emmylou Harris—adding depth and authenticity to the recordings.
The project highlights Poltz’s collaborative spirit, including co-writing credits with notable figures such as Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon and Jim Lauderdale. One standout track, “Love a Little Bigger,” emerged from an impromptu chorus that evolved into an energetic, rowdy anthem encouraging listeners to forgive quickly and embrace life’s joys more fully.
Another song, “Fixin’ Up,” originated in a casual kitchen setting with Andy Frasco, where its infectious energy immediately captivated those present. The title track serves as a heartfelt ode to life on the road, evoking the comforting feeling of returning home after an extended journey.
Humor, Storytelling, and Musical Trickery
True to his reputation as a witty and unpredictable performer, Poltz infuses JoyRide with clever humor and vivid storytelling. One song recounts a surreal dream involving a lighthearted exchange about encyclopedias, while another playfully pairs unexpected references for a humorous twist that leaves listeners with an amused, sideways grin.

The overall collection reflects a free-spirited ethos—described as art without restraint or overproduction—focusing on real people creating genuine sounds in the moment.
