On The Table Read Magazine, “the best arts and entertainment magazine UK“, René Krumm’s insightful new book, The Aiki-Principle: The Art of Peaceful Problem-Solving, transforms ancient martial art wisdom into a practical framework for harmonizing conflicts, redirecting life’s challenges, and fostering personal growth and societal peace.
The Aiki-Principle

A new book titled The Aiki-Principle: The Art of Peaceful Problem-Solving offers a fresh perspective on handling life’s challenges by drawing inspiration from the Japanese martial art of Aikido. Authored by experienced practitioner René Krumm, this concise work translates physical training concepts into practical tools for navigating conflict, change, and complexity in non-physical contexts.

Bridging the Dojo and Daily Life
René Krumm, a longtime Aikido expert, uses his deep background in the discipline to create a connection between on-mat training and off-mat experiences. The book explores how principles involving movement, balance, and interaction can apply to common human situations like emotional tension, stalled decisions, and periods of uncertainty.
Rather than focusing solely on self-defense techniques, the author emphasizes Aikido’s core philosophy of harmonizing vital life forces. The name Aikido itself reflects this: “Ai” for harmony, “Ki” for the flow of vital energy, and “Do” for the path of practice. True to this ethos, the approach involves moving with opposing forces rather than resisting them directly, redirecting energy toward resolution.
Fifteen Core Elements for Transformation
The book’s structure centers on fifteen key elements derived from Aikido training. Each element is examined in detail, illustrated effectively, and applied to real-world scenarios. These include social conflicts, financial difficulties, professional obstacles, health issues, and internal mental or emotional patterns—all areas where mixed energies create tension.
Krumm highlights that everyday language often incorporates violent metaphors, such as describing an election loss as a “slap in the face” or economic pressure as a “stranglehold.” In contrast, the Aiki approach encourages alternative responses that promote harmony over confrontation.

Initiating Movement in Stagnant Situations
A central insight is the importance of avoiding rigid insistence on one’s own position during deadlock. As Krumm explains through practical analogy, vehicles like cars, airplanes, or boats cannot change direction while stationary. The process begins with a small step to set the situation in motion, allowing the harmonizing and redirecting principles to take effect.
This mindset shift invites readers to reflect on habitual reactions under pressure and explore new ways of engaging with opposing forces. The book avoids rigid prescriptions, instead fostering self-discovery and alternative perspectives.
Authenticity from a Lifelong Practitioner
The work carries an authentic feel rooted in Krumm’s extensive experience. It resonates particularly with those already familiar with Aikido’s depth and integrity, while remaining accessible to newcomers through its clear and thoughtful framework.
Beyond individual application, the philosophy integrates a holistic worldview, suggesting potential for greater peace in personal lives and broader society.
