The Bros. Landreth Unveil Knuckles, Featuring Bonnie Raitt, Ahead Of New Album Dog Ear

The JUNO Award-winning duo from Winnipeg, The Bros. Landreth, have released “Knuckles,” a new single from their upcoming album Dog Ear, set for release on November 14, 2025, via Birthday Cake Records. The track features an emotive vocal performance from blues icon Bonnie Raitt, one of the band’s longtime musical influences.

The brothers grew up immersed in Raitt’s music in their family home. Their connection began years ago when they shared a stage at the Winnipeg Folk Festival. A decade later, Raitt recorded her own rendition of the duo’s song “Made Up Mind,” which earned a Grammy for Best Americana Performance in 2023. Her appearance on Dog Ear marks a poignant return, with her voice featured on “Knuckles” and another track, “Half Moon Eyes.”

The song delves into the endurance and dissolution of relationships. It portrays the act of absorbing emotional blows as a final gesture of kindness, allowing someone to avoid confronting difficult truths they are not prepared to face.

Themes of Refuge and Reflection in Dog Ear

Dog Ear explores ideas of connection, shelter, and introspection, drawing from recurring motifs like lighthouses, shorelines, and marked pages in a book. The album serves as subtle meditations on personal aspirations for parenthood and the potential impact children may have on their own worlds.

Fueled by the duo’s extensive live performances and onstage chemistry, the record captures a vibrant, communal energy. Guest artists include alt-pop singer Begonia on “Strange Dear,” alongside contributions from keyboardist Glenn Patscha. The Bros. Landreth view the album as a personal exploration of stability within the nomadic demands of touring life, emphasizing the challenge of remaining a reliable presence for loved ones. Tracks like the title song were crafted with their children in mind, preserving raw studio moments, including several first-take recordings.

The band hopes the music resonates deeply, perhaps lingering in listeners’ minds or hearts and finding a meaningful place in everyday life.

From Childhood Gigs to Global Stages

At the core of The Bros. Landreth are brothers Dave and Joey, whose lifelong bond with music started in infancy. Their mother would place them in a bassinet under bar tables during their father’s performances.

This early exposure evolved into decades of touring rock clubs, theaters, and festivals across North America, the UK, Europe, and Australia. Notable appearances include the Byron Bay Blues Festival and Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival in Los Angeles.

The duo has earned two JUNO Awards for their guitar-centric, soulful roots sound infused with familial harmonies. Their style pays homage to childhood favorites—Raitt’s blues, Little Feat’s funky country-rock, Ry Cooder’s diverse instrumentals, and Lyle Lovett’s traditional twang—while forging a contemporary path. In 2023, they became Grammy-winning songwriters through Raitt’s acclaimed cover.

For Dog Ear, their fourth full-length effort, the brothers returned to the studio with renewed purpose. Joined by drummer Roman Clarke and producer Murray Pulver, they embraced a more fluid songwriting process, channeling the spontaneity of their touring ensemble.

Tour Plans: North America in 2025, Europe and UK in 2026

To celebrate the album’s launch, The Bros. Landreth will play a series of U.S. shows in November 2025. The Tumbling Wild Tour follows in early 2026, starting in Paris on February 13. The itinerary spans Berlin, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Dublin, Manchester, Glasgow, and London’s Union Chapel, among numerous other cities.
