Confronting the Climate Crisis

The narrative dives into the serious issue of climate change through the lens of its animal inhabitants. The wildlife in LA-LA Forest Park, facing starvation and homelessness, hold humans accountable for environmental destruction, including the melting of the Antarctic. Through lively debates, they challenge Ed to consider humanity’s role as major contributors to pollution and global warming. The story cleverly uses these animal perspectives to highlight the consequences of human actions, making complex environmental issues accessible and engaging for young readers aged 7-11.

A Personal Mission to Inspire

Trent’s motivation for writing the book stems from her deep concern for the world her four grandchildren and future generations will inherit. Their feedback helped shape the story, ensuring it resonates with young minds. By blending fun adventures with serious themes, The Recyclosaurus and EggBangers encourages children to reflect on pollution, climate change, and the survival of all living creatures. The book’s imaginative setting, known as The Recyclosaurus, serves as a backdrop for discussions about humanity’s impact on the environment, urging readers to think about the legacy they will leave behind.

A Vision of a Fragile Future

The story paints a vivid picture of a potential future where pollution has forced future generations to live in dome cities, with the outdoors reduced to a distant memory. All living beings—humans, animals, and birds—share a common struggle for survival. Inspired by her own childhood experience at St Ann’s Infant School in Nottingham in 1963, where weather changes were a topic of discussion, Trent weaves a cautionary yet hopeful tale. Her memory of a cold, damp spring day that felt like winter adds a personal touch to the narrative’s environmental focus.

  4. A R Trent sees the potential future for planet Earth. Pollution has forced future generations to live in dome cities. The cities are cloned in domes where the masses view the outside world as an illusion. Historians from hundreds of years ago left writings for the future generation.
The Recyclosaurus and EggBangers is a book not to missed.
A schoolboy gets lost. His school is closed for winter due to the extreme roasting summer conditions in winter. He misses his school bus home because a bully forces him to submit into acting like a leapfrog. He is shoved on the ground scrambling around for his spectacles. The book sees him heading for LA-LA Forest Park. He meets EggBanger Little Bro along with the two tag along hungry bellies. A stray staffy dog and a black crow with an unusual name (Crowlip because of her cranky snotty beak). He encounters another bully called Nasty Patsy a ferocious fox and the bullying continues.
The story unfolds as Ed ends up in the Secret Garden full of enchanted adventures including a crystal cave underneath the oasis. One of the reasons why he got himself lost because of his curiosity to visit LA-LA Forest Park.
A heated debate takes place where the wild animals blame humans for the starvation and homelessness.
My children aren’t readers but The Recyclosaurus and EggBangers has enchanted them so much that they have chosen their favourite ecowarrior EggBanger.
