Tomás Doncker Released New Single, ¡2 BEAUCOUP!

On The Table Read Magazine, “the best arts and entertainment magazine UK“, Tomás Doncker has released his infectious new single ‘¡2 BEAUCOUP!’, a funk and disco-infused anthem of unity and empowerment, inspired by his onstage moment with Patti Smith in Paris.

NYC-born, UK-based alternative-R&B producer, singer, songwriter and indie label CEO Tomás Doncker released his new single, ¡2 BEAUCOUP!, via his label True Groove Records.

A Veteran Force in New York Music and Culture

Doncker has long been a key figure on the New York music, arts, and culture scenes. From the early 1980s, as a member of the groundbreaking No Wave and Punk Funk bands The Contortions and Defunkt, through international touring, recording, and songwriting collaborations with artists such as Bootsy Collins, Meshell Ndegeocello, Ivan Neville, The Specials, and Patti Smith, to leading his own band, The True Groove All-Stars, he established himself as a bold cross-genre innovator.

His previous work earned widespread praise from outlets including BBC, CNN, HuffPost, MOJO, Spin, Brooklyn Vegan, NPR’s All Songs Considered, Guitar World, Wonderland Magazine, All About Jazz, Paste, and Rolling Stone Magazine. He was also recently featured as a main cover artist in editions of both Blues Matters and Blues & Soul Magazine.

‘¡2 BEAUCOUP!’ Blends Funk, Disco and a Message of Unity

The single ‘¡2 BEAUCOUP!’ was produced with James Dellatacoma (known for his work with Bill Laswell and Herbie Hancock) and mastered by Michael Fossenkemper (Paul Weller, LL Cool J, Miles Davis). It was recorded in Paris following a memorable run of performances in the city.

The track combined driving disco and funk-infused drum beats, groove-laden guitars, and powerful horn bursts with infectious choruses and Doncker’s urgent, soulful vocals, creating an exuberant anthem of unity and togetherness.

Inspired by Patti Smith and the Power of Live Music

The song was directly inspired by Doncker’s experiences in Paris, where he supported The Fun Lovin’ Criminals at The New Morning and then joined legendary artist Patti Smith onstage at L’Olympia to perform ‘People Have The Power’. Witnessing Smith’s ability to bring people together and inspire collective action deeply moved him and sparked the creation of ‘¡2 BEAUCOUP!’.

Successful 2025 Tour and Return Dates with Fun Lovin’ Criminals

In September and October 2025, Doncker and his band The True Groove All-Stars — which includes members of The Specials Horns — supported The Fun Lovin’ Criminals on an extensive UK and European tour, playing to sold-out crowds night after night. The strong response led to an invitation to join the second leg of the European run in May 2026.

Doncker expressed how honoured and excited he was to be welcomed into the international and UK music community by the band, describing the experience as both rewarding and highly enjoyable.

True Groove Records and Ongoing Creative Legacy

For over a decade, Doncker’s wide-ranging creative projects have been anchored by his label and production hub, True Groove Records. Through the label he has collaborated with P-Funk alumni including Michael “Kidd Funkadelic” Hampton and Amp Fiddler, as well as Meshell Ndegeocello, Public Enemy’s Keith Shocklee, and Bootsy Collins.

His long-term collaboration with New York Poet Laureate and Pulitzer Prize winner Yusef Komunyakaa produced several critically acclaimed albums, including Big Apple Blues, The Mercy Suite, and The Black Magnolia Project. In 2022, the duo teamed up with visual artist Floyd Tunson to create ENDANGERED, an immersive multimedia experience that addressed the historical and social challenges faced by Black men in America. The project was widely praised as a powerful socio-political audio-visual work exploring themes of dissent, discomfort, and reclamation.

With the release of ‘¡2 BEAUCOUP!’, Tomás Doncker continued to evolve his distinctive sound while using music as a force for connection, community, and positive change. The single marked another strong chapter in an already remarkable career.
