At the center of Roses and Redemption is Milly Burnstone, a fierce and determined woman who arrives in Limestone with little more than a carpet bag and a past she’s desperate to leave behind. Escaping a life of cruelty and control, Milly is ready to forge a new path, but the frontier is no place for the faint of heart. Enter Cliff Clifton, a quiet cowboy whose guarded heart is as fortified as the rocky cliffs surrounding his ranch. When Cliff hires Milly to work on his land, neither expects the spark that ignites between them.

As they labor side by side—taming wild horses, tending cattle, and mending old wounds—an undeniable bond begins to grow. But the frontier is as dangerous as it is beautiful, and Milly’s past may not be as far behind her as she hopes. With richly drawn characters and a slow-burn romance that feels both timeless and deeply personal, Muckle crafts a story that’s as much about finding inner strength as it is about finding love.

A Return to Classic Western Romance

Roses and Redemption is a love letter to the Western genre, blending the rugged charm of frontier life with the quiet beauty of a heartfelt love story. Muckle’s Limestone is a vividly painted world of dusty trails, wide-open skies, and resilient spirits. This isn’t just another Western—it’s a return to everything readers cherish about the genre, with a modern touch of emotional depth and authenticity.

Muckle, an octogenarian author with a gift for storytelling, infuses her work with old-fashioned charm and a deep understanding of the human spirit, making Roses and Redemption a must-read for both longtime fans of frontier fiction and newcomers to the genre.

I was an English and music teacher many years ago but started to write about twelve years ago. I wrote three books which are also on the above link about my Pointer dog and are cozy mysteries. I wrote some children’s books also about dogs and then wrote a lot of cozy mysteries for Lirios publishing as a ghost writer.

I then started ten years ago to write these clean western romances for a man with a publishing company in Greece. I did fifty for him of 80000 words each and finally a few weeks ago decided that the stress of a deadline was just too much. I am old – 82-but my brain still works thank goodness.

I love writing and I can do that sitting down.  I have 12 elderly dogs at home, and I also make websites for doggy folk and some dog clubs. I live in the far north of Scotland in Caithness.
