Reading To Combat Stress

A blog was recently released by National University with the solution to reducing stress in our young people today: reading. Reading keeps your mind sharp, builds empathy and boosts your vocabulary – life skills young people need to improve their communication as they enter adulthood for college, university and the workplace.

The enthralling genre of fantasy provides the opportunity for young people to travel to fantastical worlds and develop their imagination and creativity. Reading encourages young readers to curl up and switch off from their busy lives, avoiding social media, screens and the digital world. Instead, why not foster seeds of curiosity in their young, developing minds?

Portal Of Destiny

Author Jim Inglis, from Hawick in the Scottish Borders, is now on a mission to teach others to achieve whatever they want in life with a focus on storytelling, speaking on stage and thinking into results. With this in mind, he has written a novel, with the underlying message that anything is possible…

Portal of Destiny is an exciting fantasy novel about adventure, time travel and friendship, aimed at children aged 11+, but suitable and enjoyable for young adults too.

As their bond strengthens, Darren and Julie-Anna discover they hold the key to saving the conscious world from imminent doom. But with Dargon, an evil force, slowly approaching them, they must summon the courage to face their greatest challenges.

Join Darren and Julie-Anna on an unforgettable quest filled with thrilling adventures and astral projection. As they learn that working together can have monumental consequences, will they find the strength to save their two realms, or will everything be destroyed?

Jim Inglis

Jim is an author, speaker, musician and hypnotist. Following on from the publication of his autobiography, Memories, Music and Me, Jim has found an appetite for storytelling and is continuing his author’s journey as a fiction writer.

Since writing his autobiography some years ago, he became interested in writing a novel which would take the reader’s imagination on a journey of adventure and discovery in a world where magic exists.

I have always loved the power of storytelling, and know that not only does fiction entertain, but it educates. Portal of Destiny allows the reader to join the dots of history, the present day and the future through astral projection.
