I interviewed Victoria G about her work on TeleCinephile Arts & Entertainment and Victoria G Interviews, her love for the entertainment industry, and her creative process.

Tell me a bit about who you are.

I am a 23 year old artist and interviewer. I have been working as a visual artist since I was 20 and as an interviewer since I was 18. My deep love and passion for the entertainment industry is what has always inspired me to hopefully work in that industry someday. I am so happy I get to do just that!

What is the name of your business?

I have two businesses, TeleCinephile Arts & Entertainment and Victoria G Interviews.

How did you come up with that name?

I came up with the name, TeleCinephile Arts & Entertainment because I am both a Telephile and a Cinephile. I felt combining both words that perfectly describe who I am was a great idea, plus since it is a made up word, I am confident no one will ever steal it (laughs). The name, Victoria G Interviews was just something that sounded natural and fitting in regards to my interview publication.

What products do you sell?

For TeleCinephile Arts & Entertainment, I sell various artistic services. Some of these include: graphic design, video editing, photo editing, and motion graphics. For Victoria G Interviews, I don’t particularly sell anything, but I focus on giving creative individuals the opportunity to share their stories with my readers.

When did you first start making your products?

I started making my products while I was attending my first college and knew that I wanted to keep pursuing it.

What inspired you to start making your products?

What inspired me to start making my products was really just my passion to create and utilizing all the skills I have.

What lessons have you taken to learn your craft or are you self-taught?

I owe so much of what I know how to do in terms of my visual art to my years of college since 2016. I have been in college for quite some time due to my first college closing. However, attending more than one school has really allowed me to explore different facets of art and myself as an artist. As far as being an interviewer goes, I am self-taught. I have never taken any journalism related courses. I have learned by just simply watching, reading and listening to interviews.

How has your work changed or developed since you started?

I definitely feel I am more confident than when I first started. I think a lot of this has to do with me seeing my growth in real time. I save every art piece I have ever created, so it allows me to compare my current work to my past work. My interviewing style hasn’t changed too much, since I tend to use the same template for most of my interviewees.   

Do you have a special workspace, or can you work anywhere?

I feel I can work anywhere, since what I do can be done using any computer.

However, I will admit that my personal computer in my office at home is where I tend to feel a sense of comfort that I don’t think any other computer can replicate.

A lot of this has to do with the fact that I’ve had this computer for over ten years. It has been with me all throughout high school, college and every work opportunity I have been given.

Does music inspire or distract you?

As a whole, music definitely inspires me, but I will admit that when certain songs play, I get a little distracted by this need to sing and dance terribly (laughs).

Is your business your full-time job or a side hustle?

This is a full-time job for me. Come to think of it, I don’t really have a side hustle.

Are your family and friends supportive of your creative work?

Absolutely, they have always nurtured and encouraged my dreams.  

Do you sell online and/or in person?

I do everything online.

How do you promote your business and find new customers?

I really make it a point to utilize social media as a massive tool for everything that I do.

Are you proud of your work and what you’ve achieved so far?

Yes, I certainly am! I do have the type of personality though where I always like to think bigger and what my next steps will be. I’m always thinking ten years ahead in the future and where I hope my career will be.

Do you have any goals for the future you can share with us?

I have a lot more interviews waiting to be published. I am so close to reaching 500 interviews! I plan on doing more freelance work and expanding TeleCinephile Arts & Entertainment more so by hopefully getting a feature-length screenplay I wrote produced.

Do you have any special career highlights you’d love to experience again?

I had the opportunity to be a member of the press for three film festivals last year. That’s something I would love to do again. I also have been getting into journalism. I was asked to write a post-show story on Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards by Nickelodeon. I was also asked to write a review on Suki Waterhouse’s debut album by Sub Pop Records. I really enjoyed those two experiences that I kind of fell into, so I hope to experience more journalism opportunities as well.
