The Lamb Gang Save The Loch Ness Monster
A group of six intrepid lambs, The Lamb Gang, are enchanting young readers with their debut adventure The Lamb Gang Save The Loch Ness Monster. Written by Safari Thomas and illustrated by Clinton Banbury, this charming early reader chapter book is a hit with teachers, caregivers and parents, with it’s inclusive and dyslexia friendly design, and compelling narrative with a powerful environmental message.

Author Safari Thomas was inspired by the playful lambs frolicking by the shore of Loch Ness, sparking the idea for this heartwarming and important tale of lambs embarking on a daring mission to save Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster, who is choking on a plastic bottle.
Twin lambs, Clover and Cloud, are born to a Scottish sheep in a field on Loch Ness. Their mother cautions her twins against stepping on the shore-line of Loch Ness at the end of their meadow because of the harmful litter. If in doubt, they must call Nessie for help. But Nessie never appears, leaving her identity a mystery to the lambs. Over several days, Clover and Cloud be-friend four other lambs, Buttercup, Toad, Little Weed and J. MacKay. Finally, the Lamb Gang of Loch Ness is complete.
The Lamb Gang discover a giant monster lying close to its death on the shore-line of Loch Ness. The poorly monster is barely breathing, when a curious Clover realises there’s something stuck in its throat. With the kiss of life out of the question (YUCK!), the Lamb Gang hatches an ingenious plan to save the monster before it’s too late.
The famous Loch Ness monster then teaches her heroic friends about the harm caused to animals by plastic pollution and litter in our waters. And so, the Lamb Gang decide there’s only one way forward – by inviting children to clean up our very important planet and make it like new.
The narrative not only entertains but also educates children aged 4–8 about the dangers of littering and the wider critical issue of plastic pollution with humorous illustrations and accessible, dyslexia-friendly rhyming text. The Lamb Gang Save The Loch Ness Monster is the first in a series of 3 delightful environmental and conservation stories for children.
Safari Thomas
Our planet is crying out for our stewardship. Through The Lamb Gang’s adventures, I aim to inspire children to take an active role in caring for our delicate and beautiful surroundings.
Each small action we take can collectively lead to significant positive change. I’ve deliberately and quite carefully crafted this story to be inclusive and accessible, because every child deserves to enjoy reading. My mission is to sprinkle a bit of magic and adventure and environmental consciousness into the hearts of children, fostering a sense of superhero-like agency in the realm of conservation.
-Safari Thomas

Safari, just like your every day ‘human folk,’ is a bit wild about animals, nature, and our incredible planet. Born in JRR Tolkien’s ‘Middle-earth’, in the U.K., Safari found her calling to write after navigating the challenging terrain of a Law Degree (with Honours). Her passion lies in empowering kids to connect with the environment and fostering a sense of superhero-like agency in the realm of conservation.
Safari’s mission is to sprinkle a bit of magic and adventure into the hearts of both young and old ‘human folk.’ Her stories aren’t just tales—they’re a gateway to building empathy for animals and landscapes, empowering V.I.P. kids to take charge of conservation and our planet.
In the midst of weaving tales that inspire little ones to be eco-heroes, Safari stumbled upon a merry band of lambs frolicking on the shores of Loch Ness in Scotland. And that’s where the magic began – the Lamb Gang series, quite literally, leapt into existence!
