Kirk Hammett
Kirk Hammett is one of the most well-known rock guitarists of our time. Since 1983, he has been Metallica’s lead guitarist and a contributing songwriter. He started the metal band Exodus, which he gave its name before joining Metallica. The Gibson Custom Shop Murphy Lab Aged Kirk Hammett “Greeny” 1959 Les Paul Standard and the Gibson Kirk Hammett “Greeny” Les Paul Standard will both be available on April 11, according to Cesar Gueikian, the brand president of Gibson. Kirk’s collection of Gibson guitars has grown over time, starting with his 1979 Flying V and continuing with a variety of Gibson models. He has been an inspiration to musicians for decades. He has incorporated the Greeny sound into everything he does over the past ten years since becoming the custodian of the band, making it a staple of his Metallica sound on records and on stage worldwide.
Les Paul
The background of “Greeny” is a mystery, but few guitars are as legendary. Greeny has a distinctive sound that is as recognizable as the guitar itself, making it one of the most well-known original Les Paul standards ever produced. It was originally owned by Peter Green, who used it with Fleetwood Mac and later sold it to Gary Moore, who used it with Thin Lizzy and on his own for 30 years. Greeny has been owned by Kirk Hammett and three well-known guitarists. Due to the neck pickup’s reversed magnetic polarity, the out-of-phase middle switch position partially contributes to its distinctive sound.

The Kirk Hammett “Greeny” Les Paul Standard version, which will be released on April 11, 2023, was inspired by this legendary guitar and gives players all over the world the chance to experience some of the magic of “Greeny” for themselves.
