World Chelsea Bun Awards

Ultimate Baker the Natural Choice in Sprinkles

This year’s World Chelsea Bun Awards will be judged by Lady Sophie Windsor, also known as Sophie Winkleman, and Jane Asher, an actress and cake expert who both support The Children’s Surgery Foundation. John Shepherd, proprietor of Partridges Fine Foods, and Munther Haddad, Chairman of The Children’s Surgery Foundation and Senior Consultant Paediatric and Neonatal Surgeon, will serve as additional judges.

At Partridges in Chelsea, there will be both an Instagram Competition and a Live Tasting Competition this year for the fifth annual bake-off. Bakers are encouraged to contribute to The Children’s Surgery Foundation, the chosen charity, despite the fact that entry to either competition is free.

The Beam Campaign, which was recently launched by the Children’s Surgery Foundation, aims to make intravenous access more effective and less intimidating for young patients and their families. The funds raised from the World Chelsea Bun Awards will be used to support this campaign, which aims to acquire an ultrasound vein finder for each UK paediatric surgical department.

Jane Asher is very fond of this wonderful charity: It does a great deal to reduce the potential discomfort and distress that may result from children having to undergo the trauma of surgery. She hopes that many of you will participate in baking some delicious Chelsea Buns, which is a delightful way to raise money for us to do more.

Chelsea Buns

Chelsea buns are a type of currant bun that are traditionally made from a thick dough made with yeast and flavored with cinnamon, lemon peel, or other spices.

Sir Richard Shepherd established Partridges, an independent, family-owned fine food store and Royal Warrant Holder, on May 25, 1972. Its original slogan, “Good things for the larder,” can still be found on Sloane Street in Chelsea.

Chelsea Bun Gin

Partridges launched the first Chelsea Bun Gin last year in honor of the Chelsea Bun’s 50th anniversary and inspiration from the bun. It is rich and fruity, with flavors of oranges, sultanas, and allspice. These flavors are perfectly balanced by juniper notes, warm touches of clove and cinnamon, and juniper notes to make a truly distinctive Chelsea Bun Gin drink.
