Luxury baker Anges de Sucre has created a series of children’s books called Story Bake to encourage toddlers and young children (2-6 year olds) in both reading and baking. The first book in the series Xavier and His Magical Blueberry Muffins is available as a free PDF download and as a printed book.

Anges de Sucre founder Reshmi Bennett said: “I spend most of my time baking fancy cakes but the book we have created isn’t about fancy baking at all, it’s about Blueberry Muffins. My four-year-old, Xavier, loves bedtime stories and reading generally, so I thought there must be a way for him to learn about what Mummy does and boost his engagement with reading and baking.”

Bennett continued: “Many of the books that Xavier enjoys are not interactive, they’re just nice stories. I wanted to find a way to marry the magic of stories with a fun activity that kids can experience with their parents. The added bonus of the experience of producing our first book is that Xavier actually started eating blueberries again! Help with a fussy eating toddler is something we think all parents will appreciate.”

Xavier And His Magical Blueberry Muffins

Xavier and His Magical Blueberry Muffins has already had hundreds of pre-orders. Anges de Sucre will also be contacting local councils and early years educators to offer the book as a resource.

Bennett said: “We’re hoping that our initiative will help engage kids with the magic of cake but also learning provocation — something that all children have been starved of over the last two years.”

Anges de Sucre is in the process of setting up a dedicated website for Story Bake. In the meantime, the first book can be pre-ordered here and downloaded here.
