I interviewed author and artist Tia Desrosiers about her life, what inspires her, and the work that went into her new book, The Horse That Saved Us

Tell me a bit about who you are.

I am an artist – specializing in the performing arts, such as dancing, acting and singing. I’ve always enjoyed writing and reading throughout school. Now that I’ve stopped dancing professionally, I enjoy yoga, rollerblading, and or course, dance classes to keep in shape.

When did you want to write a book?

March 2013

When did you take a step to start writing?

I was invited to attend a Mastermind group. This group is very interactive with brainstorming and great support amongst its members. The whole theme is to Think Big. It was so very inspirational and uplifting, that the next day I decided to write a book on the stories of my Grandmother.

How long did it take you to complete your first book from the first idea to release?

7 years and 11 months. Since Covid restrictions caused business closures with lockdowns for many months, I had to wait for my book to be printed.

What made you want to write The Horse That Saved Us?

My Grandmother would iterate to the younger generations and family friends, incredible situations she and some family members experienced through her years as a young adult during WW2 in Latvia & Germany, and then in Canada after WW2. Some people would utter, “A book must be written about these fascinating stories!” So, I picked up the ball. 😊

What were your biggest challenges with writing The Horse That Saved Us?

Since my Grandmother resonates more with her native language – Latvian – and I do not speak it, she would tell her many stories to my Mother over the phone, and then my Mom would translate to English & relay this info to me in point form in one of her journals. I would then create sentences, paragraphs and chapters. The info was also not given to me in order, so it was like putting a 10 000 piece puzzle together. Ahhh… Keeping the villages and the incidents occurring there in order was so challenging.

What was your research process for The Horse That Saved Us?

Besides my Grandmother’s explicit memory, I did insert some history notes that I felt were significant and added more depth to the body of the book.

How did you plan the structure of The Horse That Saved Us?

I asked my friends if they wished to read my book in a journal form or story format. They all replied story. And that in turn made more work for me. Ahahaha…..However, it was worth it. I really like the final product.

Did you get support with editing, and how much editing did The Horse That Saved Us need?

Yes, I seem to write in a style much like how Yoda of Star Wars talks. Ahahhaa…so my editor pointed out a number of sentences that were in this wondrous wise creature’s speech and we made them more consistent with the flow of the book.

What is the first piece of writing advice you would give to anyone inspired to write a book?

I would say to him/her, know clearly what you want from start to finish. See the journey and the end in mind.

Can you give me a hint about any further books you’re planning to write?

Sure thing! As I am focused on staying in the Non Fiction genre, I am planning to put out my story of dealing with a few medical conditions. It will include poetry and prose.

And, finally, are your proud of your accomplishment? Was it worth the effort?

Indeed, I am! And yes, it sure was. Although many obstacles were faced, I was determined to plow through to the end! I was set on to honour and pay tribute to my Grandmother, as well as other family members.

  1. GGT and bilirubin ranges in serum do not appear to
increase in response to train (111). The membrane-bound enzyme GGT is expressed within the kidneys,
pancreas, spleen, lungs, mind, intestines, coronary heart,
prostate and liver – the place it’s mainly expressed in areas that are rich in biliary epithelial cells (112).
An improve in GGT is a sensitive measure of cholestatic liver illness (113).

The collective improve in these serum markers ought to thus be interpreted as a sign of liver harm, even in the presence
of concomitant muscular exercise. Whereas it stays to be determined if and to what
extent an AAS-induced increment in blood pressure will increase
CVD risk, it appears prudent to discourage use when an AAS user meets the factors for hypertension. If a affected person continues using AAS long-term
nonetheless, therapy seems wise. Long-standing untreated hypertension may exacerbate the detrimental results of
AAS on cardiac construction and function, perhaps making
blood strain remedy on this inhabitants particularly related.

The following is an aggressive PCT protocol designed by Dr.
Michael Scally, a leading skilled in hormone replacement.
This was used in a clinical setting on 19 males, by which 100%
of them recovered their natural testosterone production 45 days after taking steroids.
When testosterone will increase, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) levels of cholesterol additionally increase.

Moreover, a medical professional from Wisconsin claims
that even over-the-counter anabolic steroid supplements are thought-about one of the culprits for hepatotoxicity.
It’s worth noting that bodybuilders usually consume significantly larger dosages of anabolic steroids
in comparability with medical settings, thus growing the risk of
side effects. There’s also evidence to counsel that
steroids have a everlasting effect on the myonuclei inside
your muscle cells (34). In one research, mice have been briefly exposed
to anabolic steroids, which led to important muscle growth
that returned to normal ranges when steroid use was discontinued.
D-Bal is formulated to mimic the highly effective results of Dianabol however with out
inflicting liver toxicity, hypertension, gynecomastia, water retention, excessive estrogen, hair loss, or suppressed testosterone post-cycle.
Several medication may be taken following Dianabol cycles to assist restore natural
    testosterone manufacturing.
Females who use steroids may have problems with their menstrual cycles as a outcome of steroids can disrupt the maturation and release of eggs from the
ovaries. Drugs commonly referred to as “steroids” are classified as corticosteroidsor anabolic
(or anabolic-androgenic) steroids. While their health risks vary by the kind
and amount taken, they are often harmful and cause unwanted aspect
    effects at any dose.
Another problem is the lack of a normal when performing analysis due to the huge numbers of agents which are sold
worldwide on the black market and their relative
potency. Many counterfeit merchandise are sold and used, which complicates the study
of abuse. Testosterone esters have increasingly been used in substitute remedy,
but abuse of these compounds has risen as well. A feature that all testosterone esters have in common is a testosterone molecule with a
carboxylic acid group (ester linkage) attached to the 17-beta
hydroxyl group. These esters differ in structural shape and size; they
operate solely to determine the rate at which the testosterone is released from tissue.
Generally, the shorter the ester chain, the shorter the drug’s half-life and quicker the drug enters the circulation. Longer/larger esters often have a longer
half-life and are launched into the circulation extra slowly.

Now, let’s enterprise into the murky waters where steroid use intersects with psychological well being
issues. It’s a posh interplay that can turn an already
challenging scenario right into a psychological powder
keg. This distorted physique image can result
in some significantly obsessive behaviors. We’re talking about hours spent scrutinizing each
muscle within the mirror, fixed comparisons to others, and an unrelenting drive to get
bigger, leaner, extra outlined. It’s like being trapped on a hamster wheel of physical perfection, running sooner and quicker however never reaching the goal.
It’s a condition the place people become obsessed with the concept that they’re not muscular enough,
despite often being extra muscular than average.

Progesterone primarily mimics the results of excessive estrogen ranges, with progestins having a stimulatory effect on tissue within the mammary glands.

Aromatization, or the stimulation of estrogen receptors, won’t happen on trenbolone.
Thus, some assume that trenbolone can’t cause gynecomastia, which is not correct.
Such measures won’t completely reverse cardiovascular strain from trenbolone; however, we discover they notably scale back the chance of atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries).

Furthermore, easily accessible and generally subtle AASs, such as nandrolone and
stanozolol, have the potential role in the
pathogenesis of cancer, corresponding to Leydig cell tumor via a quantity of process pathways [113].

Given that it was demonstrated a correlation between AASs abuse and cancer, the prevention of its abuse
and the information campaigns in gyms and amongst young athletes are obligatory.
In this regard, surveillance of long-term abuser is warranted to be able to perform
at early analysis. Current medical and experimental studies proved that the increased activity of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) plays a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of cardiological diseases.
The over-activation of the RAAS could lead to
adjustments within the cardiovascular system noticed
in subjects taking AASs for doping purposes. The pathogenesis
of cardiological adjustments and lots of tragic cases ensuing from AAS abuse may rely upon the robust stimulation of the RAAS and enforced
results by the tissue aldosterone motion. A raised stage of
aldosterone is taken into account to be associated to the
occurrence of cardiac sicknesses, independently of increased blood pressure.

They enhance the manufacturing of protein within cells and hence promote the growth of skeletal muscular tissues.
They are prescribed How to Avoid the Side Effects of Dianabol treat and manage debilitating conditions like AIDS or
cancer, which causes vital loss of body mass. Nonetheless, the growth-promoting properties of anabolic steroids make them addictive and lead to steroid overdose by
athletes and bodybuilders. Many men who take anabolic steroids
are infertile during the time of anabolic steroid use. As A Outcome Of continual anabolic steroid use suppresses
spermatogenesis (sperm production), the testes shrink.
