Organized by We Are Weymouth and produced by Activate Performing Arts as part of the biennial Inside Out Dorset Festival, the event promises to blend art, storytelling, and the natural environment in a captivating way. With workshops planned throughout the summer, this year’s performance is expected to be the most ambitious yet.

Sonnet of Samsara

On September 19 and 20, Weymouth will transform into a dynamic stage featuring hundreds of silk flags, local dance groups, and international artists. The performance, titled Sonnet of Samsara, will combine contemporary dance, martial arts, and live soundscapes played from boom bikes. As part of the national Beach of Dreams project, the event is a collaboration between Jayachandran Palazhy, founder of India’s Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts, UK arts charity Kinetika, and choreographer Charlene Low. The performance will unfold at sunset on Weymouth Beach, where professional dancers and community performers will bring the coastline to life through movement, music, and vivid imagery.

A Cultural Highlight for Weymouth

Now in its fourth year, Dusk Til Dark has become a cornerstone of Weymouth’s cultural scene, aligning with the town’s bid to become a Town of Culture 2025. Previous editions have featured large-scale light and sound installations that celebrate community, place, and shared experiences. These free, public performances aim to engage audiences by reimagining public spaces in unexpected and thought-provoking ways.
