As I have gotten older and became a teacher it has become important to me to try and inspire future generations that anything is possible. I am dyslexic and writing a book was never something I believed possible. My perception of myself and what a writer is became because I didn’t have the confidence. I want people to enjoy the Jack Palmer story, hopefully finding it funny and different, but also be inspired to try anything!

Growing up in West Sussex, Dan Batchelor faced unique challenges, including a late dyslexia diagnosis at the age of 18 while studying Sociology, Media, and PE in college. Despite these hurdles, he went on to earn a 2:1 degree in Sports Science from High Wycombe.

The seed for the Jack Palmer universe was planted in 2012 while Dan was working a telesales job in London, drawing on his lifelong love for reading, movies, and storytelling. In 2018, he transitioned into a career he truly loves as a primary school teacher, finishing his debut novel while managing the classroom.

Drawing from his personal experiences with dyslexia, Dan frequently shares a vital message with his students: once you have learned to read, you can read to learn. Through school visits and events across the UK, he connects with young readers, crafting a relatable and deeply engaging protagonist through a brilliant balance of humor and pathos.
