The Sound and Meaning Behind Spinning
The track captures the dizzying frustration of getting caught in an emotional loop. Listeners hear the exhaustion of repeating the same unresolved conversations while wondering if anything is actually getting through.
Musical elements blend radiant shoegaze textures with soaring melodies and irresistible momentum. Twin 12-string guitars, bass, drums, and atmospheric synthesizers build a lush framework beneath ethereal vocals.
Creative Process and Band Insights
Vocalist Katie Haley highlights the track as a personal favorite due to its strong energy and underlying tension. Guitarist Ross Levine developed the core chorus lyrics about spinning around, which inspired the remaining verses.
Lead guitarist Matt Levine utilized an experimental approach by creating a descending backwards guitar lead on the first take. Solving how to play this backwards lead forward in a live setting presented a brand new technical challenge for the band.
Matthew Maxwell directed and edited the official music video for the single.

Exploring the New Album Sand
The album Sand features ten transportive songs exploring themes of impermanence. The tracks examine how love, memory, and identity shift under pressure while questioning what it means to keep choosing connection without guarantees.
Longtime band members include Katie Haley on vocals and percussion, Matt Levine on lead guitar, Ross Levine on guitar and backing vocals, Tony Cale on drums, Becky Cale on bass and backing vocals, and Hans Munz on atmospheric electronics.
A Proven History in the Underground Scene
Previous studio full-length releases include Highs and Lows, Detour, Maps, and Lines. The discography also features various singles and cover songs recorded over the years.
Critical praise has brought the group live sessions at KEXP, WFMU, and Part-Time Punks. Festival appearances span the New York Popfest, Paris Popfest, Schellraiser Festival, Tremolo Fest, and Dreamgaze PDX.
