The Funeral Portrait has released their first-ever live album, Live from Suffocate City, capturing the raw energy of their sold-out hometown performance and marking a major milestone for the rising emo-rooted band from Atlanta.

Breakthrough Recognition and Chart Success
The band gained significant attention when Pandora named them among the “Artists to Watch 2025: The Pandora Ten,” highlighting emerging talents poised for major breakthroughs across genres. They exceeded expectations by securing two #1 Active Rock singles on both the Billboard and Mediabase charts with “Holy Water” (featuring Ivan Moody of Five Finger Death Punch) and “Suffocate City” (featuring Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills). Their current single, “Dark Thoughts,” has climbed into the Top 3 on these charts, demonstrating sustained momentum in the rock scene.
Explosive Touring in 2025
2025 proved to be the band’s most demanding and successful year on the road. They completed their busiest U.S. touring schedule to date, sharing stages with prominent acts such as Ice Nine Kills and In This Moment. The group also embarked on their inaugural European tour alongside The Rasmus. Throughout the year, they performed 176 shows and drew some of the largest crowds at major festivals, including Warped Tour and Louder Than Life.

The Live Album: A Captured Hometown Triumph
Live from Suffocate City, released via Better Noise Music on January 16, 2026, documents the band’s first “Suffocate City Town Hall Meeting” at The Masquerade in Atlanta during 2025. This sold-out event delivered an intense night filled with raw emotion, high-energy theatrics, and beloved anthems performed in front of devoted fans. The album is available for streaming and download, as well as in physical formats including a CD/Blu-ray combo and vinyl in the band’s signature green and purple color scheme.
The release includes a cinematic live video for “Stay Weird,” which serves as a heartfelt tribute to the band’s dedicated supporters—often called the Coffin Crew—who embrace individuality, belonging, and unapologetic self-expression. The track captures the electric moment when fans sang it back during the Atlanta show, embodying the community’s spirit.
This follows an earlier live video for their breakout single “Voodoo Doll,” released on October 31.
Prelude and Fan Teasers
Fans received an initial taste of the live material with the four-track Dark Thoughts EP, released on August 22. It features the live version alongside the original studio track, a guest vocal rendition by Danny Worsnop of Asking Alexandria, and a new remix. The live “Dark Thoughts” video from the album has garnered over 34,000 views.
Building on Studio Success
The live album builds on the foundation of Greetings from Suffocate City, originally released on September 13, 2024. This 14-track album showcased theatrical, dramatic, and full-throated rock with guest features from Bert McCracken of The Used, Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills, Danny Worsnop of Asking Alexandria, and Amanda Lyberg of Eva Under Fire.
A deluxe edition, Greetings from Suffocate City – From Beyond the Abyss, arrived on June 13, expanding to 24 songs. It incorporated material from the Cassanova EP and From Beyond the Abyss EP, plus the hit “Holy Water,” “Hearse for Two” (featuring Lilith Czar), and new tracks like “Skinny Lies,” “Evergreen,” and “Lost Boy.” Physical versions include exclusive content such as “Friends Like These.”
The campaign for the studio album began in August 2022 with “Voodoo Doll,” at a time when the band was opening in smaller venues. Their growth trajectory led to headlining larger crowds and festival highlights.

Looking Ahead in 2026
The band kicked off 2026 with two hometown “Suffocate City Town Hall Meeting” shows in Atlanta on January 16 and 17. They are now supporting Three Days Grace on the “Alienation” tour alongside I Prevail, starting February 21 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Tickets remain available through the band’s official website.
Label Support and Industry Standing
Better Noise Music, the independent label behind the release, focuses on artist development and boasts a roster including Five Finger Death Punch, Yellowcard, Sabaton, The Rasmus, and others. Founded in 2006 by Allen Kovac, the company has earned recognition as Billboard’s #1 Mainstream Rock Airplay Label and Imprint in 2024, following multiple years of dominance in the format. With global offices, it provides robust marketing and distribution for its artists.
