Johannes Vermeer, one of the great Dutch masters, lived and worked in Delft from 1632 to 1675. His work is most well-known for its serene, private indoor scenes, innovative use of bright, vibrant light, and convincing illusionism. His masterpieces are a sight to behold, with their sumptuous fabrics and pearls that hang from the ceiling.
