On The Table Read Magazine, “the best arts and entertainment magazine UK“, discover how to stop fighting your physical self and embrace lasting healing through somatic practice with Dr. Ann Saffi Biasetti’s new guide, Your Body Never Meant You Any Harm.
Dr. Ann Saffi Biasetti wrote Your Body Never Meant You Any Harm: A Somatic Guide to Forgiving and Healing Your Relationship With Your Body, published by Shambhala and Penguin Random House in July 2026, to help individuals stop fighting their physical selves and practice body forgiveness. The book addresses the anger, resentment, and isolation caused by chronic stress, trauma, diet culture, autoimmune diseases like Graves’ disease and Mixed Connective Tissue Disease, and medical dismissal. Readers learn to shift focus from appearance and bikini bodies to nervous system regulation, self-worth, and trusting the body’s innate intelligence.

Overcoming Medical Dismissal and Illness
Dr. Biasetti spent decades dealing with body disconnection and teenage trauma before facing an autoimmune diagnosis after giving birth to twin boys. Doctors initially dismissed her severe symptoms as new mom anxiety, and one physician even called her crazy to a medical resident.
Persistent self-advocacy helped her navigate this medical negligence. That personal struggle birthed the realization that the body never intends harm. Body forgiveness honors that underlying biological innocence and acknowledges the body’s persistent longing for internal reconnection.
The Power of Embodiment and Somatic Healing
Embodiment has become central to modern mental and physical wellness because chronic stress, trauma, and diet culture pull women away from themselves. Healing requires moving past the critical mind to soothe the nervous system and reclaim inner presence and intuition.
Body healing is not linear, particularly during illness, aging, grief, or major life transitions. True recovery centers on developing the ability to listen, interpret, and attend to internal physical experiences.

Core Programs and Therapeutic Frameworks
The author created the Befriending Your Body program, an eight-week trauma-informed Somatic Self-Compassion Recovery Program based on her doctoral research for eating disorder struggles. This framework also informs specialized treatment approaches for adolescents and teens dealing with eating disorders.
The publication outlines ten distinct stages of body forgiveness alongside three specific ways to attune to physical needs. Every chapter includes gentle guidance, reflective exercises, and research-based somatic practices.
