At 59, with my roots firmly grounded in the vibrant city of London, England, I look back on a journey shaped by community, resilience, and a commitment to change. My path began in community work, first as a support worker and later as a Team Leader, where I witnessed firsthand the everyday struggles faced by young people. As a father of three, I felt a deep responsibility to make a difference.

In 2005, that sense of duty led me and Lisa Ribsy to the founding of YBug (Young Black Urban Group), a grassroots organisation dedicated to amplifying young voices, offering guidance, and creating growth opportunities. Our work gained recognition, with features in The Voice newspaper and The Daily Telegraph.

My experience with YBug sparked a profound exploration of my heritage and the often-overlooked narratives of Black history. Though eyesight challenges changed the course of my path, they also opened the door to a new purpose. Over the past four years, I have devoted myself to writing a book that celebrates the resilience of African ancestors, confronts the realities of oppression, and addresses the ongoing challenges faced by Black communities today.
