On March 20, 2020, O ZORN! released their album “Your Killer” and planned a sell out record release show at The Wayfayer in Costa Mesa California. Seeing Red Records, their label, was arriving by plane from Cleveland, there were a lot of album reviews, and the band was excited to share their new material with the world. Then the State of California ordered that all public events be canceled the day before their big day and the event was cancelled.

There would be no record release show. The upcoming shows that had been scheduled would not take place. All of it was put to an end by the Corona Virus. The band could only hope that the ban would be lifted and that they could get back to business. But that never happened.

New Album

Kielty decided that writing and recording a new album would be the best way to keep things moving forward because the Pandemic did not appear to be ending soon. So it started, two members from O ZORN! would start hammering out rough drafts of the new record. Then, in December 2021. Kielty and Eglit traveled across the country to Tampa, Florida, to begin recording the new material with Foo Fighters producer Ryan Boesch.

In 2022, Kielty was trying to make up for lost sessions by flying back and forth to Tampa. They were fortunate to be able to track every drum during their time in the studio in December, which made things a little easier, however with the long distance working relationship, progress was held up a little.

But Kielty and Boesch kept their focus, finished the new album, and are getting ready for the release of their first single, “Golden Features,” along with a video, early in the summer of this year.

O ZORN!

Kielty collaborated with local Southern California musicians Justin Suitor on lead guitar and Justin Morales on bass for a brand-new album. Both are members of the Painted Wives band mentioned earlier. O ZORN! is once more finished, and they can’t wait to release their new music at the end of 2023.

O ZORN!’s new album is bigger, bolder, more diverse, and more focused than its predecssor. It showcases the evolution of the band’s sound and the restored strength drawn from the ongoing line-up of Bill, co-guitarist Billy and drummer Danny Walker.

Recorded at Foo Fighter’s 606 Studio, with the Sound City Neve mixing board, this new album will remove scalps from 100 paces. Bill Kielty’s anguished howl and mutant poetry collide with the power of Bill and Billy’s riffs once more, all driven forward inexorably by Danny Walker’s unstoppable battery. O ZORN! are clearly prepared for the long haul and eager to introduce the public to this exceptional new material.
