On The Table Read Magazine, “the best entertainment magazine in the UK“, Declarations Of The 3am Freeway is the title-track from The Velveteins’ sophomore album, featuring moody synths and sizzling warbled guitars.
The Velveteins are best described as a bridge between the bright psychedelia of the 1960’s and the indie rock explosion of the new millennium. After spending a year living out of a camper van on the beaches of Australia, The Velveteins frontman Spencer Morphy returned to Canada, forming the band after co-writing with Addison Hiller in 2014. Later, they were joined by Dean Kheroufi, Daniel Sedmak and Cam O’Neill, and went on to make a name for themselves with their incendiary live performances.
The Velveteins have built an ever-growing, dedicated fan base across all corners of the globe, and garnering millions of streams of their music. Their vigorous touring schedule has seen them opening for established acts such as Wolf Parade, Hockey Dad and Chad Vangaalenhas, and performances at international festivals (SXSW, and The Great Escape).
Declarations Of The 3am Freeway
Declarations Of The 3am Freeway is the title-track from their sophomore album, featuring moody synths and sizzling warbled guitars to envelop the feeling of road-tripping at dusk in the heat of summer when you’re alone on the freeway; just you and your thoughts.
Having moved to Tofino, Canada, a small surf town where Morphy lived for a month and finished the writing, the new single is backdropped by the foggy Pacific Northwest surf allowing the artist to access a diverse palette and find the missing pieces of this song.
The lyrics are more insightful than their past works as they narrate the feeling of driving in a battered motor vehicle on the cusp of a great adventure, feeling full of yearning.
