She now has a distinct sound that is influenced by artists like Veronica Maggio, Bon Iver, Caroline Polachek, or Phoebe Bridgers. She has a real attitude and a (very Swedish) sense for pop melodies mixed with elements of electronica and indie. a sound that has the potential to captivate Pop-Maniacs as well as Indie-Nerds.
Dottie explained that at long last she is making the music she wants to make, music that comes straightforwardly from her Swedish veins and that is legitimately her. This first EP is like breaking free from a chain that has held her captive for the past few years.

The first of a series of songs that have been recorded with producer Martin Baumgartner in Hamburg since 2020 is titled “Heavy Objects.” Jeff Fettig (Caroline Polachek, Maggie Rogers, Solange) mixed it in Los Angeles, and Joe Lambert (Sofi Tukker, Daughter, Moby) mastered it in New York. The accompanying video was shot in one take by photographer Nic Schoppet on the spot.

Additionally, she writes songs and poems, many of which are included in her books. She jokes that when she was about six years old, she wrote her first poem about a spider. It won a prize and gave her the writing bug she has today.

In late 2018, Daniel Knowles suggested to his wife, Jennifer Farmer, that the LA transplants stay put and try to make music together, just the two of them, rather than going home for the holidays (to the UK and Texas, respectively). This would be a present for the married couple for themselves.
They spent the following few weeks alone in their home studio with no real plan other than their shared love of Beach House, Julee Cruise, Ye Ye, The Jesus and Mary Chain, dream pop, 60s girl groups, and Patsy Cline and The National’s evocative storytelling lyricism.
With their authentic narratives and stunning mix of genres, The Know have succeeded in attracting fans all over the world. SPIN, the BBC, FLOOD Magazine, and Earmilk, among others, praised their debut EP. Knowles is also an engineer and producer who co-produced Sharon Van Etten’s album We’ve Been Going About This All Wrong this year in addition to The Know.
We Are The Know
Their debut EP, which was released in 2020, was a stunning amalgamation of dream pop and shoegaze. The six songs on the album “wearetheknow” gave an unflinching look at the couple. They honestly told stories about their relationship and life experiences against a kaleidoscopic sound palette, delving deeply into their personal lives.
The lead single, “143,” is a collection of conversations, images, and hazy recollections of a night out that combine autobiographical and fantastical lyrics. While “Hold Me Like You Know Me” was compared to “Twin Peaks” by David Lynch and “Wall of Sound” by Phil Spector,
EP2
Lyrically, The Know’s second EP (EP2) is packed with relatable moments of love, loss, isolation, uncertainty, sadness, and connection. The EP was finished during the pandemic and in a very isolated environment. Farmer and Knowles produced it, and they recorded most of it quickly in their home studio.
The lead single “Used to Be” discusses the complexities of romantic relationships in the context of the pandemic. Knowles said that when the pandemic struck, people all around them were putting their relationships to the test by locking them up with significant others. Some of these relationships survived, while others did not. On a more global scale, a lot of people were dealing with a loss of normalcy, a loss of connection with other people, and the sudden inability to purchase groceries—something that we had all taken for granted.
On a sonic level, “Used to Be” has warm melodies, hazy guitars, and atmospheric soundscapes that are almost uncontrollable, making it an engaging listen. Farmer directed and produced the accompanying cinematic music video, which depicts a troubled relationship’s non-linear highs, lows, and everyday moments.
ME
The Know have released a gorgeous new single that chronicles the blissful times of a new relationship; ME. According to the band’s Jennifer Farmer, the song is a love song about how thrilling it is to connect with another person. ME captivates with its dreamlike vocals, sparking synths, and layered, reverb-soaked guitars in cinematically romantic landscapes. The duo’s much-anticipated forthcoming EP features the song as its second offering.
ME is a recollection of the start of a relationship and events between two people during lockdown, however, the majority of the material on this track is positive. Farmer explained that it is a love song about the thrill you get when you connect with another person. ME’s captivating cinematic slice of dream pop features dreamy vocals and romantic, lustrous landscapes.

On The Table Read, “the best book magazine in the UK“, author Tom Mead shares his creative writing process, what inspires him, and his passion for murder mystery stories.
For years before I was a published writer, I was an aspiring writer. I wrote whenever I could find the time, and I researched endlessly, hoping to stumble across the formula for literary success. I studied textbooks and websites and interviews with famous authors, all of whom basically said the same thing: the only way to succeed as a writer is just towrite. As that’s what I was already doing, it seemed like pointless advice. But now that my book Death and the Conjuror has seen the light of day, I think I’m starting to realise what they were talking about.
Murder Mysteries
I have loved murder mysteries ever since I was small. I think it’s the joy of seeing the puzzle solved before your eyes; the satisfaction of seeing the pieces slot neatly into place. That’s the feeling I have always wanted to evoke in my readers. To begin with, I focused on short fiction. This was because I didn’t know how to go about writing a full-length novel, and also because I considered the short story to be a good way of developing my creative skill set. I still believe that to be the case, as writing short mystery stories is a brilliant and worthwhile challenge. When done right, they can pack the same punch as a novel.
Personal favourites for me include Agatha Christie’s “The Dream” and Carter Dickson’s “The House in Goblin Wood,” as well as the Father Brown tales of G.K. Chesterton. I am also in awe of Edward D. Hoch, who is one of the few authors of the twentieth century to make a living exclusively from his short fiction. His series character Simon Ark was one of several inspirations for my own fictional detective Joseph Spector.
Starting To Write
The first short story I wrote featuring Spector has not been published, and it would require substantial rewrites before it ever sees the light of day. Its title is “The Man in Cell 6B,” and it was inspired by the excellent “Problem of Cell 13” by Jacques Futrelle. Looking back at the story now, I can see that it’s far from perfect, but all the same I have a lot of affection for it because of the other work it inspired. The next story I wrote with Spector as the sleuth was called “The Indian Rope Trick,” where a rivalry between two magicians culminates in a highly unorthodox murder. I was pleased with the story and so I started submitting it to prestigious magazines, including Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine, which is perhaps the most prominent publisher of short stories in my preferred genre. (It also happens to be a market that pays professional rates.)
I was delighted when they accepted the story, and that’s when I decided that perhaps I was onto something and ought to look into making the Joseph Spector mysteries a series. The next story with Spector featured an impossible murder in a cable-car going down a mountain, and was called “Incident at Widow’s Perch.” This one was accepted by Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine, another professional market. Around this time, I became aware of a British independent publisher called Flame Tree Press, which issues excellent hardback anthologies featuring a mixture of new and classic fiction. Several of my stories featured in these anthologies, including a very different piece of work called “Heatwave.” This was a noir pastiche in the vein of Raymond Chandler or Ross Macdonald.
Mysterious Press
In early 2021 I was contacted completely out of the blue by a man named Otto Penzler, who runs Mysterious Press, one of the world’s foremost publishers of the murder mysteries I love. He notified me that “Heatwave” had been selected by none other than Lee Child, author of the Jack Reacher series, for inclusion in an anthology he was editing for Mysterious, which was to be called The Best Mysteries of the Year 2021. Naturally I was thrilled, because this meant that my work would be appearing alongside that of legends like Stephen King and Joyce Carol Oates. But perhaps even more importantly, it established a connection with Otto Penzler, whom I knew to be a fellow aficionado of Golden Age Crime Fiction, and particularly my preferred subgenre, the locked-room mystery.
So I decided to chance my arm, and asked if he’d be willing to read a manuscript I had been working on. This was a piece of work that I had been developing in my spare time, and was the first of an envisioned series of novels about Joseph Spector. He agreed; the work was initially sent to his reader Michele Slung (to whom I am eternally grateful) who passed it on to Otto with her seal of approval.
Death And The Conjuror
Following a series of developmental edits, the novel, which was now titled Death and the Conjuror, was accepted for publication by Mysterious Press, and issued in July 2022. The book was subsequently bought by the UK publisher Head of Zeus, to be published on this side of the Atlantic in February 2023.
A Love Of Writing
A continued source of joy to me is the friendliness and supportiveness of the writing community. Ever since my book was announced, I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know so many other people who’ve been in the same boat, and who have provided invaluable guidance and camaraderie. There is no rivalry between writers; one author’s success is everyone’s success.
Although I’ve been writing for what feels like a long time, I’m aware that in the grand scheme of things I am still very much a novice. As you can imagine, I’m still reeling from the excitement and anxiety of seeing my book out there in the world. But now it feels as though at least part of the “mystery” is solved, and that I finally understand the advice in all those textbooks and interviews. Perseverance is the key. You’ve got to write every day. Write everything. Keep writing even when circumstances seem to be telling you to stop. So if you are here looking for industry tips, let me give you the very best advice I have ever received: just write.

They also have the Superiore, which is an extra dry prosecco with hints of chamomile and crostini. Fans will be pleased to learn that Netflix has recently announced a spin-off show called Freeridge, despite the fact that this show will not be returning.
Julie And The Phantoms
Julie and the Phantoms comes in second, despite only having one season, with an impressive 2.4 billion views on TikTok and an 8.4/10 rating, making it the highest-rated show in the top ten. After learning of the show’s cancellation, fans started a change.org petition with 221,000 signatures for a second season.
The Winx Saga
Fate comes in third with 1.6 billion views on TikTok: The Winx Saga received nearly 50,000 ratings, but only received a 6.8/10 rating. definite program that got people talking.
Inside Job
With 365 million views on TikTok, Inside Job, which had only one season and had just been renewed, moved up to eighth place in the ranking. With a rating of 7.7/10 from 21,852 ratings on IMDb, it was pretty impressive for such a short time, and it’s easy to see why fans were so surprised.
Methodology
1. OnlineCasinos.co.uk were keen to uncover the top-rated Netflix shows cancelled in 2021, 2022 and so far in 2023.
2. First, a seed list of the shows cancelled by Netflix in 2021, 2022 and 2023 were collated using online sources*, where a full list of 48 series were gathered.
3. Using TikTok data, we gathered the number of hashtags relevant to the show and its cancellation. All of which can be found here.
4. Subsequently, each show’s name was inputted into IMDb to gather the number of seasons the show had, overall ratings and number of ratings it had accumulated.
a. Shows that had been planned to be finished after a specific season were omitted.
5. The list was then ranked by overall views on TikTok for each show, in descending order.
6. The top ten results were presented in the final table.
7. The data was collected on January 25th 2023 and is accurate as of then but subject to change.

On The Table Read Magazine, “the best book magazine in the UK“, author Martin Treanor talks about the first book in his trilogy, The Logos Prophecy, and what inspired him to write it.
I interviewed Martin Treanor about his life and career, what inspired him to start writing, and the story of his new book, The Logos Prophecy.
Tell me a bit about who you are.
Raised in Belfast and counties Tyrone and Monaghan, Ireland during the troubled seventies, and having moved around Europe – I settled in Lisbon with my wife Lynsey in 2022, where I continue my job as an author and illustrator with a passion for all things fantastical, ludicrous, and surreal. I am particularly fascinated by alternative realities, bizarre science, magical realism, the metaphysical, and dark fantasy.
Over the years I have worked as a university technician, trade union representative, engineering tutor, lift installer, labourer, bar manager, and bookseller.
Martin Treanor
I enjoy all things historical, archaeological, philosophical, metaphysical and, through studies, have developed a strong interest in quantum physics – which I like to include in my stories.
When did you first WANT to write a book?
That would’ve been back in the early 2000s. I had been writing for a while – short stories and the like – and thought it time to chance something bigger. I actually wrote two full books, none of which were published, before accomplishing a work good enough to secure a publisher.
When did you take a step to start writing?
Being an almost obsessive reader – of many different genres – I had always kind of tinkered with the written word, but (at the age of 35) found myself wanting to give it a go myself. My first few works – short stories – were not good, but writing them and subsequent stories helped my hone the craft, if for no other reason than the joy of doing it.
How long did it take you to complete your first book from the first idea to release?
My fist published work, The Silver Mist, came from a dream. I woke the next morning, all but locked myself in my office for a weekend and had the first 60,000 words down by Monday. From there, it took another three months to complete in first draft, another few to redraft and – when circulated to publishers – I secured a small independent press in Washington DC within the month. Unusual, I know, but it happened very quickly.
How long did it take you to complete your latest book from the first idea to release?
Being the first in a trilogy, The Logos Prophecy was laid down very carefully. Working closely with my publisher and agent, we spent a good year world building the whole universe/setting, the treatment alone reaching over fifty pages. We wanted to make sure nothing was left to chance or misinterpretation. We even laid down story breakdowns, not only for books 2 & 3 but also for a television series, a movie, and both board and console/PC RPG games.
Focusing on your latest release. What made you want to write The Logos Prophecy?
From 2015 until its dissolution in 2018, I collaborated with DnD, Forgotten Realms creator, Ed Greenwood as an author with his publishing company, The Ed Greenwood Group. Long story short, as part of a brainstorming session, I stayed with him at his home in Canada, whereby I got to talking with the CEO of the company, Salman Nensi (who later became my agent) about our shared intrigue for conspiracy theories and, therefore, the premise that ‘what if they actually were true – but humans doing it?’ From there, the story morphed into what would become the Fall of Ancients setting, with The Logos Prophecy being book 1 and the present-day part of a thirty to forty-thousand-year arc.
What were your biggest challenges with writing The Logos Prophecy?
The sheer amount of conspiracy theories. Research was difficult because it was hard to see the wood for the trees. Although the book is fiction, I wanted to include all the good, juicy ones in the book, but they also had to be current and big enough to prick the interest of a potential reader. Amid the noise, they are hard to find and extract from the multitude that are out there.
Who or what inspired you when creating your Protagonist?
My daughter, Emma. Like Ary Long, she is tenacious, focused on what she’d like to achieve, and – at times – a little on the crude side. Perfect for the person I wanted to traverse the globe, saving the world from itself. I also wanted Ary to have the necessary traits to counter the other protagonist, Jordan Burke’s very academic view of the world. Ary is the conspiracy theorist, Jordan the science guy – her personality and beliefs running against everything he holds true and takes as fact.
Who or what inspired you when creating your Antagonist?
The Logos Prophecy
As the main antagonist is a group, the ever-powerful Caucus, my inspiration came from the various secretive bodies that have influenced progression (or lack of) down the ages. Among the many, groups like: the Freemasons, the Knights Templar, the Bilderberg Group, the numerous historical monarchies, and the many economic forums that have shaped human development.
What is the inciting incident of The Logos Prophecy?
That we – all of us – are not in control of our own lives and have never been. For most of what we know as human history, we have been manipulated and exploited into believing a version of the world that is contrary to what it might have been if the main antagonists, the Caucus, hadn’t risen to power 13,000 years ago.
What is the main conflict of The Logos Prophecy?
When the two protagonists finally discover the truth that a secret organization has been controlling things for 13,000 years and set about reactivating an ancient power system, their enemies pursue them with not only with their own agents but with a hired assassin, who is singular of mind and malice in her task.
Did you plot The Logos Prophecy in advance, or fly by the seat of your pants and write freely?
The book was plotted with regard to all the main points, like: where the fictitious characters could be inserted into real life events, and indeed how the main story would play out. But, when it came to the protagonists’ journeys, I let them take me around the world, where – even as the writer – I enjoyed discovering what they might do next.
Did you get support with editing, and how much editing did The Logos Prophecy need?
As with my other published works, I had the full support of my publisher which includes an editor. For The Logos Prophecy that meant the usual scope of edits, which included two full run-throughs.
What is the first piece of writing advice you would give to anyone inspired to write a story?
Read! As many books, in as many genres as takes your fancy. Reading really is the basis of writing. A writer begins to enjoy the various different approaches of their favourite authors. They see technique, sometimes subconsciously. They are exposed to different styles which, in turn, helps a writer to find their own voice… their own unique style and flair.
Can you give me a hint about any further books you’re planning to write?
Apart from books 2 & 3 in the Fall of Ancients series, both of which are, as yet, unwritten, I have already completed the first book of a high fantasy trilogy which I would like to develop further, as well as a dark faerie story based in London that I would also like to flesh out more.
And, finally, are you proud of your accomplishment? Was it worth the effort?
Absolutely – in both cases. It’s always nice to see a story come together and to see your characters survive the challenges you’ve thrown at them. If it entertains the reader, then that’s the cherry.

On The Table Read Magazine, “the best creativity magazine in the UK“, author Stephen J. Wolf shares his creative writing process and what inspires his books.
I am a chemistry and physics teacher who has taught both middle and high school since 2001. I earned a PhD in Science Education in 2006 from Curtain University in Perth, Australia. Ever since watching Mr. Wizard’s World, I was hooked on science, because it explained things in the world that I hadn’t known before.
I have always had a deep love of fantasy, from watching movies, to reading Lyndon Hardy’s Master of the Five Magics, to playing Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy on the NES. Magic captivated me and I wanted to dive into it with both feet. And a staff.
At this time, I have over 20 releases, from fantasy novels, to choose-the-fate-stories, a poetry collection, and three JavaScript coding books.
Inspiration for Writing
My inspiration comes from many sources. Sometimes, it’s from the world around me and conflicts I see in my personal life. Other times, I’m having a tough day and need a battle scene to work out frustration. For my Red Jade series, it all started with a conversation with my personal trainer about magic crystals that had unlimited, but useless, power, such as a water jade that only provided one drop at a time. You never know where ideas will come from, but if one pops into your head, write it down before you forget.

Writing Process
I currently use a mix of outlining (plotting) and free-flow writing (pantsing). The outline helps structure the story from beginning to end, making sure there’s an appropriate middle. It helps keep track of characters’ actions and how they intermingle.
Of course, once I have my outline and I sit to write, the other side of me often takes over, forcing me to revisit and edit my outline. Sometimes, I don’t exactly know where the story is going until I get there, so having the freedom to write openly works for me.
My writing location shifts between two places in my house. I sometimes use my office and other times I sit at the dining room table. I generally need silence, though sometimes instrumental music helps me focus. I’m not someone who can work in a café with all the background noise. Do what works for you.
When I’m in the midst of a book, I try to set aside at least a half hour a day to sit with the story and add to it. Sometimes, I just end up rereading and tweaking what I’ve already written, but mostly I keep pushing the story forward. It’s important to make that progress.
I have a close support system I can bounce ideas off of as I write out the plot and various scenes. Having a sounding board is extremely helpful, especially for getting past blocks and for ensuring the story makes sense.
Publication Process
Once the story is written, there’s a lot of work to do. Here’s my basic process:
Self-edit for plot holes and so on
Pass the draft to beta readers for feedback
Incorporate appropriate feedback into the manuscript
Self-edit again
Pass the manuscript off to my amazing editor, Rochelle Deans, for developmental edits
Incorporate the edits
Self-edit once more
On to more beta readers
More revisions based on feedback

On to my editor for line edits
Incorporate last changes
Self-edit for typos
Format the manuscript
It’s a long process, but it’s necessary so I can produce the best work possible.
Also in there somewhere is deciding on a title. For me, that often comes midway through the first draft, though sometimes it’s much later.
I enjoy including maps with the stories, so I sketch out a rough example of what I’m looking for, then I seek an artist to convert it into something real.
Cover design is another task. I don’t have the skillset to make my own covers, so I always seek help from outside. For my Red Jade series, I wanted painted images like older style books. They always drew my attention and inspired me, so it seemed fitting, despite the shift away from such covers in contemporary times. When I was ready for covers for my Starsword series, I went with the newer style, still leaning on an artist for support.
And once all that is done, I pass the covers to an animator for posting them on my website. I’ve worked with three animators now, each for a different style, and I love seeing the covers come to life.

What Should You Do?
If you have a story idea, be sure to write it down so you don’t forget it. It doesn’t matter if it’s in a document, on your phone, or on a napkin. Just get it down. It’s your first step on your writing journey.
Expand on your idea when you can. You may have to set time aside in your day to make this happen, even if it’s just ten minutes. You need to support your initial idea with story and plot.
Read. Read. Read. To paraphrase Stephen King, if you don’t read, you can’t write. Reading is important because it will give you ideas on story and sentence structure. It took me a while before I could adhere to this advice. I was always worried I would inadvertently steal someone else’s idea. Yet, once I started, I realized that I already had my own story in my head. I’ve found a lot of books that were written well and others that I wish I could reclaim my time from. It’s a definite learning experience. Don’t skip this step.
When you can, open up a document and type Chapter 1. Then start writing it. Maybe you don’t know where to begin your story. Maybe you only have ideas for the middle. Should you start with description? Backstory? Action? By reading other works, you’ll get a feel for what works. But don’t worry about that now. Just write, even if it’s in the middle of your story.
You can’t be a writer if you don’t write. So put pen to paper. Put fingers to keyboard. You have a unique tale within you. Let it out. Let it breathe. Even if you don’t release it to the world at large, you deserve to have your story told.

Although Andrew Lauder is one of the most significant and highly influential figures in the British record industry, few outside of the music industry are likely to be familiar with his name.
He always saw things from the perspective of a fan, which, combined with his exceptional knowledge of music, made him comfortable around musicians and never happier than when he spent time with them. He was always one step ahead of the next trend, especially in the later 1960s and 1970s when he worked at the legendary United Artists. Although underground music, pub rock, and punk in Britain, for instance, evolved quite merrily, visionaries like Andrew who intuitively saw what was coming and assisted in bringing about those transitions are easy to identify in hindsight.
In addition, he was ahead of the game in other areas; pioneering a more innovative approach to record marketing and promotion and revolutionizing catalog organization and presentation. His tale is told here.

Andrew Lauder was thrilled when Lee Brackstone at White Rabbit made it possible for him to write a book about his life because he had always been told to. By the time he was ten years old, he had fallen in love with rock ‘n’ roll, and it wasn’t until the third school he attended that it started to shape his life.
He had his own school band, but the boy with all the 45s and EPS who knew more about pop music than anyone else really made his mark. He only desired a music job, which could only be found in London. He found himself in Denmark Street on the day he arrived, where he was taken in like a chess piece and put in the offices of a prominent music publisher. He made the right decisions almost every time over the next forty years. He was blessed. His love of music led to a permanent job.
Mick Houghton has been a friend of Andrew Lauder’s for a lot of that time. He had the same pop music obsession as a child, which grew during the Merseybeat and R&B booms. He didn’t have to look up the Artwoods, Buddy Knox, or Johnny Kidd and the Pirates on Wikipedia. Because Lauder’s all-time favorite song is Happy Trails by Quicksilver Messenger Service, White Rabbit is the perfect publisher for his story. He first became interested in the San Francisco scene after hearing Jefferson Airplane Takes Off, which was always such a big deal for him.

Lou Reed describes how Jenny’s life “was saved by rock ‘n’ roll” in his classic song Rock & Roll. The same could, in Mick Houghton’s opinion, be said of Andrew Lauder. In 1958, listening to Little Richard and Buddy Holly on the radio sparked a lifelong love of rock’n’roll and the blues.
He left his home in West Hartlepool in 1965 to pursue a career in music. There, he rode luck in a time when there were many opportunities. Andrew followed his own path as an A&R manager at Liberty and United Artists for the next four decades before starting visionary labels like Radar, F-Beat, Demon, Edsel, and Silvertone. Music was always more important to him than business.
According to Mick, Happy Trails tells a story that is insightful, passionate, and funny. It also shows how a sense of adventure and chance has given way to a more remote and scientific approach in the record business. To borrow a line from the Lovin’ Spoonful, Happy Trails might even explain to a stranger “the magic of rock ‘n’ roll,” to use a classic line.
Lee Brackstone
Publisher Lee Brackstone is of the opinion that this is a tale for true believers who are interested in the backstories of how the underground music scene developed into such a potent countercultural force in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Andrew Lauder’s story is an unlikely and inspiring picaresque as well as a portrait of a once essential but now neglected role in the music business: the mysterious A&R Man. It spans from working with CAN, Hawkwind, Nick Lowe, and Dr. Feelgood all the way through the late 1980s, which culminated in the classic debut album of The Stone Roses.
