On The Table Read Magazine, “the best entertainment magazine in the UK“, Brasstracks has collaborated with Mandy Lee from MisterWives for his bombastic new single, Anesthesia.
Brasstracks
Ivan Jackson, a musician and producer from New York, has a project called Brasstracks, which has won a Grammy. Brasstracks has transformed from a hip-hop, jazz, and big band over the years into an ever-evolving landscape in which Jackson serves as the foundation.
The group scored two GRAMMY wins for their production work on Chance The Rapper’s seminal “No Problems” in 2017 (Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Album). They’ve also since been nominated for their work with Harry Styles during the 2021 GRAMMYs for Best Pop Vocal Album, ultimately taking home the Best Pop Solo Performance award for their work on “Watermelon Sugar.”
On Saturday Night Live, Brasstracks performed alongside Miley Cyrus and Mark Ronson, who frequently collaborates with Brasstracks. Anderson.Paak, Khalid, Mac Miller, and BTS are among the other collaborators. Additionally, Basstracks has appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to perform songs from their debut album.
In the new Brasstracks era, Jackson serves as the architect for this larger endeavor of providing artists with an environment in which to develop.
Anesthesia
The most recent single “Anesthesia” featuring Mandy Lee of MisterWives, is the second single from Brasstracks’ forthcoming album. Lee’s velvety vocals and the oscillating synths give the vibrant single a colorful and infectious atmosphere. The energetic track will not allow audience members to remain still, with quick moving beats and layered instrumentation making a comprehensive climate, spellbinding you from the absolute first beat.
The upcoming album is a special expansion to the Brasstracks catalogue, brimming with technical eloquence and maximal, brassy bombast, but extremely intimate lyrics, rife with self-hatred and heartache. The collection’s obvious happiness remains in undeterred difference with its topic, and “Anasthesia” is a microcosm of its ethos: a soulful, shimmering, and groovy house record that is mostly about jealousy.
With “Anesthesia” sampling Brasstracks’ previous FATHERDUDE + TOBi-flanked single “Nobody’s Fool,” the album seamlessly interweaves. “Anesthesia,” a summertime banger with a fiery undertone, was a standout during Brasstracks’ sold-out six-show Blue Note run in March.
Brasstracks continues to be a pioneer in 2023, earning an incredible amount of praise.
