I interviewed Jordan Kauwling, producer of “Two Sentence Horror Stories: The Official Podcast”, the work that goes into it, and what they discuss.

Tell me a bit about who you are.

I’m an LA-based comedy writer and podcast producer who sometimes hosts podcasts.

How and why did you start podcasting?

I started podcasting on a whim after doing stand-up for a year in Philadelphia. I took some classes at a local public radio station in audio engineering and pitched a show idea to the board which resulted in me hosting my own Saturday morning show, Philly on Location. From there, I took other jobs in local public radio with a focus on storytelling which led me to a fellowship at Maximum Fun Network in Los Angeles.

What is your current podcast called, and how did you come up with the name?

I currently produce a new podcast called “Two Sentence Horror Stories: The Podcast” which is the companion podcast to the Stage 13-produced anthology series, “Two Sentence Horror Stories” on The CW and Netflix.

I am also the host of “Views from Nervosa: A Frasier Rewatch Podcast” which is an homage to the cafe that fictional characters Frasier and Niles Crane frequented on the hit 90s sitcom “Frasier.”

What platforms can we find Two Sentence Horror Stories: The Official Podcast on?

“Two Sentence Horror Stories: The Podcast” is available on all major podcast platforms!

What is Two Sentence Horror Stories: The Official Podcast about?

“Two Sentence Horror Stories: The Podcast” is a deep-dive into the behind-the-scenes world of each episode of the hit anthology series. In each episode we chat with episode creatives, celebrity horror fans and guest experts who help us take a deeper look at the societal issues addressed in the series.

Do you host Two Sentence Horror Stories: The Official Podcast alone, or have guest hosts/partners?

I produce and our hosts are Danielle Radford (writer, actor, comedian, writer for the Emmy®-nominated series “Honest Trailers”) and Megan Rosati (writer, director, actor, Fangoria contributor, “52 Ways To Break Up”). They talk with the television series’ creators, as well as celebrity guests, horror experts, social activists, culture critics, and more.

How has Two Sentence Horror Stories: The Official Podcast changed or developed since you began?

It’s our first season, so we’re sticking with our current format now, but it could change.

What are you biggest challenges with Two Sentence Horror Stories: The Official Podcast?

My biggest challenge is editing conversations with super-interesting, dynamic guests down to a 45 minute episode. We could literally chat with our guests for hours!

What are your favourite podcasts to listen to?

I am obsessed with The Blank Check Podcast with Griffin and David because their team does such a great job of researching the film careers of the directors they cover. I

love a good movie podcast like the guys over at We Hate Movies and The Flop House. I really enjoy The Read and revisit their Beychella episode at least once a month. I enjoy Fanti Podcast – a show about problematic faves – and how it challenges us as fans to demand better from our favorites. I also really enjoy Scam Goddess because I love a good scam story!

Do you earn money from podcasting, or is it a hobby?

Podcasting started out as a hobby, something to do in between bombing at local comedy clubs, and I have been blessed to be able to now call it a career.

What is the first piece of advice you would give to anyone inspired to start podcasting?

I urge anyone thinking about getting into the world of podcasting but who is unsure if there is space in the industry for their voice to power-through that self-doubt and do it anyway. Do it unsure. Do it scared. I

’ve been fortunate enough in this industry to be able to help shape the voices of so many people whose perspectives are much-needed at the table. Black medical professionals, nonbinary journalists, Chicana doulas… you name it! And just like each one of them had a story to tell that only they could tell, so do you!

And, finally, are your proud of what you’re accomplishing with your podcast? Is it worth the effort?

Every day that I get up and am able to help tell a story and build the fire I feel like I’ve moved one step closer to my life’s calling.
